Obama proposes pay regulation

Thats good to know since Pelosi wouldn't let the subject of "cost of living raises for congress" be broght to the floor !

In other words while people are taking pay-cuts, losing jobs and benfits at least congress, senate and the "PREZ" won't have to worry about their bills !

In 1989 congress passed a law to give themselves automatic annual pay raises unless they vote against giving themselves a raise. Congress voted to skip their annual pay raises in 2007 and voted to forego next year's because of the recession.

And so it begins, how frickin sad...

American Airlines' unions upset over bonuses
Executive bonuses at American Airlines being compared by unions to AIG payouts

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- Labor officials say executives with American Airlines' parent company, AMR Corp., shouldn't be taking bonuses when the airline is losing money and has performed poorly on a variety of fronts, including delays and customer service.

They compare the upcoming bonuses to $165 million in payouts financially troubled insurance giant American International Group gave to executives after receiving federal bailout money.

Allowing government to cap pay in private enterprise is just taking one step closer to us becoming the USSA.

Sorry its what is finally needed. The camels back is broken and people are seeing the light. The same people are collecting millions in bonuses as they sit at the helm of failed companies. Others make the bonus as they down size people, jobs and wages. If you have to cut anything, then there should be no money for executive bonus.

Since companies cannot seem to do this on there own, they will have to be told.

You mean is I was corporate fat cat raking millions on the backs of hourly non union labor, I would feel different.

So you would be ok with having the government dictate terms on how much you can earn? Im sorry but government should have no role, as they are the biggest hypocrites on spending and allocating money wisely.

This is a slippery slope they should stay away from. Where does it end? Will it end when everyone's pay is regulated? Its only fair. How about regulating the pay of actors and sports stars.
they really wont do anything regulating any pay..

because when these politicians say they want to put a limit on "bonus" or CEO pay, all they are doing is setting the stage for more people to vote for them down the road...its not about actually doing anything about it, its just appeasing the populous knowing full well this is a touchy subject with a potential voter...and if they get the voter on their side, they hope to continue to get their vote..again.

"we are going to cap CEO pay and bonus"

is more effective with a voter than...

"we are going to cap all sports players salaries"..

ya know?

Yeah I know. They like to play this class envy thing to get people riled up............................

I will use a little Southwind logic here.

They (The Federal Government) are hiring!

You want some? Come and get it.

Why would you want to go to work for the "Biggest Problem" facing the U.S. right now !

That being said, you know the old saying, " If your not part of the solution, then you must be a part of the Government !

By your statement above, I take it that it would be O.K. if "Coporate Fat Cats" were raking millions from the backs of "Unionized" labor ?

Hell, I take offense to this and I'm not even pro-union!
