Technically, no. Israel was created by mandate mainly out of guilt from WWII. That ship has sailed though so we are stuck with it.

The roots behind both Israel and Iraq are common. Both were cobbled together out of what the West thought should be there. Both have had intervention from the US and other Western countries.

The only thing different is the level of public support they get.

yea but I think you are talking about biblcal refferences.  I'm talking about the actual creation of a state by UN charter in 1948.  I understand why it was done but I am not sure it was the best move in hind sight.  I was raised as a Jew so I have a vested interest in Israel but I still think it was a pretty phucked up move.
