Obama's Press List?

About half-way through President Obama's press conference Monday night, he had an unscripted question of his own. "All, Chuck Todd," the President said, referring to NBC's White House correspondent. "Where's Chuck?" He had the same strange question about Fox News's Major Garrett: "Where's Major?"

The problem wasn't the lighting in the East Room. The President was running down a list of reporters preselected to ask questions. The White House had decided in advance who would be allowed to question the President and who was left out.

Presidents are free to conduct press conferences however they like, but the decision to preselect questioners is an odd one, especially for a White House famously pledged to openness.

Wow. They ere going to have questions asked by MSNBC and FOX? Stop the presses. They were going to call on a conservative network reporter. What the hell was he thinking.

Dapoes, I'm sure they will leave out the FOX reporter next time. I bet someones head is going to roll for puting Majors name on the "OK to take questions" list.

Oh, it couldn't be that he might not yet know the names and faces of the white house press yet, can it? Looked to me like he was randomly pointing to a name on a sheet of paper and calling it out.

At least he is not holding town hall meetings where only DNC friendly people can attend and at least he can use paragraphs to answer questions and can pronounce words correctly and not rely so heavily on monosyllabic words. At least he can remember previous questions and weave them into the answer to current question. At least no one is accusing him of having a transmitter in his ear to help answer questions.

The "change" is evident in his intelligence. That's a huge change. Get used to it.

I do not know if this list was published but the fact that he had Fox on the list seems to indicate that it was not all 'liberal media".

We need to start a grass roots to get rid of the electoral college. Until that is gone we are all just pissing in the wind during a hurricane.

If you wanr to have anyone in power other than a dem or a repub the only way it will happen is with out the electoral college. The way it is set up now with a winner take all means that any independent does not stand a chance.

As for the list. How do you know it is a preferred list? Are the same people being called on each day? Do we know the list does not change each day as to make sure everyone gets to ask questions over a week/month. Is there a bias in who gets to ask or does not? I don't know as I have not watched each press conference and graphed it out. If you can prove bias or conspiracy then by all means run him out on a rail. If not, just put your foil hat back on and all will be all right.

Why would I want to vote out one repub/dem just to vote in another one? One ball park frank tastes the same as any other ball park frank. Voting out the incumbents will only make a difference if you can replace them with someone different and the only way that happens is if the electoral college goes bye bye.

I though Nixon was bad till Reagan got in office. Then I figured we hit bottom. No, Bush II gets in office manages to make Reagan and Nixon look like saints. No idea how Obama will fair but I hold little hope. Mother nature has a funny way of answering the question of "Could it get worse". The answer always seems to be yea, it can .. let me show you.

At President Obama's town hall meeting in Fort Myers on Tuesday, Henrietta Hughes stood up and told the President she has been homeless since 2003 and can't find a job.

She also says she's reach a dead end with government assistance and none of the local charity agencies will help.

However, a local organization is coming forward saying Hughes isn't being honest about how much help she's had in the past.

The director of We Care Outreach Ministry, Tanya Johnson, says just last month she offered Henrietta Hughes permanent housing and a place to stay free for three months, but Hughes refused.

The White House and the press are holding up this woman and her son as symbols of how the economic downturn has rendered people homeless and jobless.

Mrs. Hughes and her son have been jobless and receiving government assistance since at least 2004.

Corey Hughes ‘ thyroid gland was bothering him - again. He needed medical attention, but had no money to get it. Hughes , 33, a computer programmer who lives in Rochester, has no steady job, no health insurance, no doctor.

So, when Dr. Carolyn Mok examined him June 2 at Mercy Outreach Center on Webster Avenue, not only did Hughes get necessary treatment for his thyroid condition, he also took comfort in something else: the service was free.

Worry no more Mrs. Hughes, with this new president....its a moochers paradise.
