Oil Prices Hit New High On Supply Fears

BB, now just stop it! You have been warned. SpinDoc and USA320companymouthpiece have 'splained it to you and 'splained it to you. There is no oil shortage. There is no refined product shortage. And, oil prices are going to drop any minute now.

You absolutely must cease posting those bogus numbers of yours based on nothing but mere facts.

what i don't understand is ALLLLL this information that our country needs to do some serious changing.. not just in regard to energy. Do conservatives or supporters of Bush REALLY REALLY think that we don't need change?

This just seems like MASSIVE denial that I cant really believe that folks with brains can continue to sustain.

(of course, I live in the city and use my car rarely. Giving it up would mean changing rivers, so it would be an adjustment, but mild compared to most)

Well, obviously you are just not paying attention. The President just said yesterday from his vacation home in Texas that the economy is doing very well--esp. job creation (of course, no one seems to be bragging about the quality and pay rates on those jobs)--and all that is needed to make things perfect is another tax cut for the rich.

what gets me somewhat crosseyed is the departure and arrival techniques havent changed one bit in years-----I say in GREAT WX conditions of course----- lets go do the ol U S Scareway Kennedy CROWBAR approach procedure-----seriously wonder how much fuel could be saved by a "somewhat" more aggressive slamdunk arrival----or do we just sit here and watch gas go up and not do anything . 20 mile finals are old .

"Most analysts predict that oil prices will remain high into 2006. But a recent report from Cambridge Energy Research Associates predicted that as much as 16m new bpd could come onstream by 2010, which would probably mean a precipitous drop in prices. And even without new supply, as prices creep towards $70 a barrel, they will get close to setting real records, as well as nominal ones. At those levels, consumers, and their governments, can be expected to react. The market may eventually be able to accomplish what environmentalists seemingly cannot, by forcing energy-gluttons out of their sport-utility vehicles and on their way to a more fuel-efficient future."

Ressesion looming...

Can ANY of the airlines (with the possible exception of SWA) wait until 2010 for fuel prices to come down? Miss Cleo studied the stars, dealt the tarot, and cast the entrails of a chicken. She says no. And, she only charged me $39.95 for the answer.

Most of the energy problems we are facing is due to the lefty environmental wackos. Haven't had a refinery built sine the 1970's, need 50 different mixtures of gasoline which costs alot of money instead of just one or two super clean brands which would help out the environment. Don't want to build any more nuclear power plants - never mind that with the exception of Russia there has never been a major accident since there inception - Three Mile Island came close but they were able to contain it. You want to fix it, build new refineries, nuclear power plants etc but these will all take time and they should have been built yesterday. Unfortunatley the second someone tries to introduce legislation to build new resourses like this, the lefty wackos drive up in their gas guzzling SUV's and start hugging their trees.

This applies to all of us...just happens to be a topic here.

I just looked at Nymex.com. Crude oil futures are trading above $67/bbl for every month through February, 2006 except for September ($66.40/bbl) and October ($66.95/bbl). January and February are both at $67.75/bbl! Granted this is for light, sweet crude, but it is the benchmark.

Bloomberg.com is quoting $66.45/bbl (down $.41/bbl. Whew. That's a relief. )

People, we are ALL in trouble.

Jim,

Yessir. The truth of it is we really are in a bit of a supply crunch. We could work our way out by building more refineries.. but that will take about two years. The damage will be done. The real issue is, we need to conserve, we need more nuclear power, we need to make better use of mass transit.

Even as a fiscal conservative, I think gasoline taxes are good, and NOT HIGH ENOUGH! Our economies dependence on oil is a far greater threat to our national security than terroism, or illegal immigration. If it were not for the bush tax cuts, the surge in oil prices would have sent us into a recession by now. Just think 1970's oil crisis. I still think a recession is inevitable given the lasting duration of this demand driven oil shortage. Whats worse, is that greenspan keeps raising interest rates so when the recession does hit, its going to hit with high interest rates, & all the people who bought houses on ARMs on going to be screwed, and its just going to be a bad, bad cycle.. And all this will hit the fan just in time for hillary to run for president. Yeeeesh 🙁

SpinDoc replies:

Bullcrap. The only supply crunch rests
in the minds of the greedy oil companies
and their biggest supporters, G.W. Bush
and Richard "Cranium" Cheney. It's
rather obscene to watch the oil companies
rake in the money in billions, yet they
seem to have no interest in exploration
and infrastructure to lower the cost of
oil. I for one am sick of it, and many
Americans need to also be sick of it and
start demanding that something be done
about the cost of oil.

God help us if everyone in this great
country sits by and let's this garbage
happen without any outcry. Psst.....
the media is "in" on the game and
they have perpetuated the "game"
that is going on in the oil futures
market. All the media needs to do
is expose the truth about oil supplies
and prices, and watch government
officials run for the hills and start
trying to do something about the
problem. (too little too late as
usual)

Hey dude. That's the same stuff that is
keeping the good citizens of this country
from raising he11 about the current oil
farce. I probably could use some of
that, but then again, I would be one
less disgruntled voice in this fugged
up country.
