Good article in USA Today about the changes in ATL. Can anyone on the "inside" give some thoughts/opinions on how it's working/will work? Thanks.

The article said that there would be one of these coordinators for every 3 gates. What if all 3 of the gates have a plane at the same time? Just wondering.........

I'm a F/A and flew in and out of ATL for the past 2 days. My flights were all on time and I was quite impressed. In ATL they have a person that meets the plane within 5 min after arrival and basicially is the troubleshooter between the agent and the F/A's. We did have a mechanical so we were delayed but other than that, it was smooth sailing. I am sure there will be some problems but DAL management is serious about making this work.

This was posted on our internal "DeltaNet".....

***In the face of some adverse conditions, Operation Clockwork got off to a successful start Monday. System performance averaged 10 points higher than ever under similar weather and traffic control flow rates. Arrivals were within 15 minutes of schedule and departures within zero.

The operation kicked off as the Southeast was recovering from the weekend storm. The day began with fog and continued with low ceilings, resulting in reduced flow rates.

Despite the conditions, Atlanta performance showed dramatic improvement. Historically, the conditions in Atlanta on Monday would have resulted in a 24.1% D-zero and 47.9% A-14. But the hub achieved 46.4% and 57.8%. Delta moved more than 23,000 local customers in Atlanta that day – one of the highest local boarding days ever.

"During preparation and planning for Operation Clockwork, we shared the importance of cross-divisional teamwork to our success," said Lee Macenczak, chief customer service officer. "Yesterday, you demonstrated that the Delta Difference – our spirit of teamwork and cooperation – was very much alive." ***

We just heard MTC is having a hard time meeting all the inbounds. One AMT is assigined to FIVE gates. Every inbound is to be met. Sounds like they are doing a lot of running.

Five gates can definitely be a ways. Maybe there is an electric cart that could be used.
