According to the reports, Bush gave up on OBL and dismantled the group tasked with hunting him down. Obama was the one who walked into the WH in Jan '08 and said to find the SOB. I'm nt sure who woke up when but we sure as hell know who gave up now don't we. I know, I know. That was all part of Bush/Cheney's diabolical plan to force OB out and allow Obama to catch him... 🙄

But Reuters interviews with two dozen current and former senior intelligence, White House and State Department officials reveal another side of the story.

The 13-year quest to find and eliminate bin Laden, from the June 1998 day he was indicted by a federal grand jury for his role in the East Africa embassy bombings, was filled with missteps, course adjustments and radical new departures for U.S. security policy. But there was one constant in the search for bin Laden. On September 17, 2001, six days after the 9/11 attacks, President George W. Bush issued a still-classified "finding" that gave the CIA "lethal authorities" to deal with the al Qaeda leader and his top lieutenants. The same day that Bush signed the directive, he publicly declared bin Laden was wanted "dead or alive."

Yemeni forces have killed Said al-Shihri, second in command of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the Yemeni Defense Ministry said Monday....​

Six other terrorists were killed as well, the military said in its statement, posted on an official website.​

One security official said that a brother of senior AQAP leader Nadir al-Shadadi was among those killed.​

While the Yemeni military said al-Shihri was killed in "an operation by the armed forces," three local security officials told CNN that a U.S. drone conducted the strike.​
