check out the pic. someone has an appointment with a pee cup

What was the context in which this happened? Weather? Day/night? Taxi way or ramp? Just curious how this might happen. What's the estimated time back in service for the equipment?

Someone on FT was on the little Bus. They put it as "waiting for takeoff". Unless the 330 had a long delay, it would have been around 4:30pm

I understand that the 330 was the Frankfurt flight and the small bus was a 321 flt#413 going to SFO

according to justplanenews.com Flight 413, an A321 was hit from behind by Flight 704, an A330 bound for FRA

It appears from the picture, the leading edge of the vertical stab on the 319 was damaged. That would preclude the 319 from being hit from behind. Disregard. upon further review, it was the trailing edge.

The 330 was showing a 5pm repair skd to take the CLT-FCO flight. It shows it left 2 mins late at 617pm so unless they did an aircraft change the 330 left tonight. I didnt see the 321 in the maint log so dont know if it was already repaired and back in service today or if I just missed it somewhere.

Is is flying with out a winglet??

Was there another 330 damaged that day? I heard something about a beltloader hitting an aircraft in FRA.

Help me understand something. Today when I landed in CLT I saw a 330 in the hanger with "frames" (for lack of a less ignorant term ;-) on its tail.

I was under the impression the 330 wingtip struck the 321 rudder. Am I wrong? I cannot see the opposite occurring. If so, why was the 330 in the hanger like described above, or did I see another 330 there for a different reason?

Thanks.... the story here is so vague. I, along other people, would like to get at least a "vague" idea what happened.

I am glad it was, for the most part, "minor" damage and no one suffered any injuries. 😀

Tanx!

Workstands or something else?

Accprdomg tp tje sletcju media accounts that's right, but the media has been known to get it wrong.

Two possibilities, assuming the media got it right. One, it was another 330 undergoing routine maintenance checks. Two, some of the shrapnel from the little Bus was blown by it's engine exhaust and damaged something on the tail of the 330. Someone from the maintenance dept will hopefully clear it up.

ll hopefully clear it up.

Thank you for telling me the "proper" term. Would routine "workstands" be only on the tail? Or do they start at the tail and work forward and I just happened to see that 330 in for service.

ITMT, Does anyone have any idea what happened? There are some nasty rumours going around and thats not right.

Thanks BB for your insight and clarifications of terms

Don't be too hasty with the thanks - I didn't see them so don't know if it was workstands you say or not. I only mentioned that as a possibility since the 330's do rotate through CLT for maintenance.

As to how it happened, apparently (given the sketchy details) the 330 was turning somewhere along the taxi route and didn't allow enough room for wing tip clearance.
