Quite a day at ALPA national headquarters. Capt. Prater knows now as he stated they (ALPA) will be overwhelmingly losing the USAirways pilot group if something is not done, He assured both sides that national was committed to finding a solution to this mess. I did not know that without this merger A-west was prepared to file bankruptcy through operation "Zanzibar" as admitted by Parker and Kirby. Should know something by the end of the week. Expect a VERY rough summer!!!!!!!

And again, how is it that the east knew they were headed into bankruptcy but they constantly denied it? It is going to be a very long and hot summer..do whatever it takes boys!

Make no mistake. There is no reason to expect Prater to do anything except the absolute minimum he can get away with while making a show of great concern and interest.

It is business.

His job is not to fix the problem. Instead his job is to make it blow over if at all possible, for the least cost and effort.

Full court press. Don't let up.

Here's an update from the Alpa Nat'l headquarters...GOV is again ranting "Gentlemen!!..This is serious!!..We've got to protect our phoney-baloney jobs!!"

Those scumbags will do NOTHING unless forced into it...They are naught but slimy politicians pretending to be "pilots". They have "theirs" via Alpa Nat'l offices..they're not going to do ANYTHING this week, or EVER unless they have to. Decertify Now!!

sky high states: How much did United lose that summer?............the "summer of love".

only stating opinions

ANY Company that deals with consumers will deny any news that may weaken consumer confidence in their product.

The 2 US BK's occurred in short order due to a myriad of reasons, some IMO of a nefarious nature and others through no real fault of the management team in place at the time.
PB, the ONLY reason USAir went into BK twice was to break our union contracts.

So the world revolves around you and your misery is what you are saying? And the ONLY reason that BK was declared was to make your life miserable? And there in lies much of the problem with the current situation - the failure of many people to be able to see the big picture. If it had not been for BK - you wouldn't even have a job to complain about.

This statement is absurd. US had more liabilities than they could afford, so the prudent business decision was to enter Chapter 11 before being forced into Chapter 7.

Hurrampf, Hurrampf, Hurrampf, Hey!! I didn't get outta dat guy! Hurrampf!
That's better.

It is truly a shame that you couldn't walk in our shoes. You see it from a passenger side, we on the other hand see it from both sides, believe it or not. And no, they did not do this to make my life miserable, the employees weren't even a thought in these peoples minds. We do see the big picture, sir. Fortunatley, my life is not defined by USAir even after 25 years of service. I have no problem with a CEO making 14 million a year..if he has earned it by doing a stellar job and giving a fair wage to your front line employees. You never attack the skeleton of your company.

Actually that is NOT TRUE. If you recall there was the credit card processing company that was set to end their agreement on 3/31 which was the pressure point for exiting BK.

The company was in real trouble

Piney: If you believe that I have a bridge to sell ya! Come on now...it was all crafted and the unions fell for it hook line and SINKER. I am sure your friend PITBULL can tell you this. It's like having a gun put to your head and learning later it was only loaded with BLANKS. I think we were in trouble but I think they used BK2 to just pile drive and stick it to the unions.

That is exactly right!

As I recall, US did not have sufficient cash on hand to satisfy the credit card processors requirements. The credit card guys didn't want to be stuck if US shut down overnight.

See, I said IF !!

I think Chapter 7 would have been the better choice. Kill the thing off once and for all.
