What more of a hot button issue than Overtime. Folks we need to wakeup and realize that there is no more solid way to push back and have the potential to save some jobs than to STOP WORKING OVERTIME! This has given the company such a strong tool to not only divide us but to take libertys with running the operation understaffed! Now the debate as to "Are you gonna pay my bills"? has been going on since 'Moses brought done the tablets ' but sure, in todays economy Everyone has different levels of struggle. I certainly have mine. But I can assure you that there will be no more effective way to disrupt their strategy for tearing down the labor than to avoid working offers of overtime. And the dissidents who choose to pursue the "I got mine and no one tells me what to do" will just need to have the spot light turned their way.

Sounds good, but in reality it won't hsppen. With people facing pay cuts etc, they tend to make hay when the sun is shinin.....

I refused OT for years. I was paperworked several times. I didn't accept OT until they brought our brothers and sisters back off the streets. Heard our manager say on numerous occasions "why would I up the headcount when the work is getting done on time". Many were working 80 hour work weeks to get the planes out on time. Never looking back at those on the streets begging to get back.. I fought hard to get our guys back. Finally others seen the light and our friends returned.. headcount was back up to par

In MIA 1/2 the guys cant pay the bills without OT, its been a open checkbook for years, 1000 OT hours is nothing in a year, gona be some nice toys on sell this summer.

back in 2003 or something ord turned down all the overtime was suppose to be system wide.Well ord didn't work overtime for years, only to find other stations where working all the ot they could get.

so no I will still work o/t if I feel up to it. (I'm not the only one either)

They didn't return because you turned down over time. Over the years several guys smart enough or lucky enough retired!

When do we realize that the "me "and "mine " directly contributes to the success of the TWU and the Companys ability to divide us. AA is playing us like a fiddle to minimize the headcount thus saving on benes and pay. Problem is that youth gives us the perception of invincibility but with an aging workforce, Avg=50 something, will we be stepping over the guy who is having a grabber to get to the computer to sign up for the OT? Even just for one day would get some attention. And BS on the job action threat, OT is a choice.

I've already stopped... rather than work OT I'm working on my resume.. figured it'd be more beneficial in the long run.

JABORD, I applaud your convictions and principal. Wished there were more like you. All these guys working every weekend(esp here in TULE), I can promise you would be THE SAME ONES that would cross our picket line in a heartbeat.
Not that we'd ever strike this place...

Sickening to watch these one-way a$$holes.

That is pure BS. Just because your stuck on the worst performing dock in TULE history doesn't mean everyone else is a "one-way ####". BTW, I turned down unlimited ot last weekend to fix your docks disaster.

Well good! I'm happy to hear some turn the OT down around this place. But don't try and tell me this base isn't eat up with people literally hooked on the OT. Just because I've only been here at this #### hole for a few months doesn't mean I don't know what happens out here. I've known guys for a long time that've been here for well over 20 yrs-and they say the same thing. A lot of these guys would step on there own mom to get the OT. Like I said... PATHETIC.

That doesn't mean they'll scab. It is pathetic to know the only raise you'll get is to work ot and your coworkers will never refuse it to show unity.

Birdman, that's one reason I kind of wanted to walk here at AA. Just to see how many here in TULE would've crossed our line faster than you could say "Jack Flash",
I know the types, attitudes...the words. And actions speak a lot louder than words. I'd bet my next paltry check I'd be right. And yeah, i agree the necessity to wk OT to have a decent standard of living sucks. But most of these boys around here just ain't got the balls to anything about it-but bellyache. Union men? Pffft gimme a break...

Most union members are looking for the representation they pay for. Is the leadership we have now what they are looking for?
