Are they planning on parking airplanes?

Do you mean in addition to the 2 already parked, the 11 announced for May, and the 25 over the next 2-1/2 years to be returned to GE? If so, then the answer, so far, is not necessarily though they have filed to reject the leases on more.

USAirways will park as many aircraft as it takes to support the top heavy management structure that they have in place, after all it costs alot of money to pay for a pension at every level of management and they have plenty of levels.

Thank god they don't still have to pay those pilots and mechanics a pension because the pay cuts and work rule changes alone wouldn't leave enough money to support management.

Any chance MGT can park them all? That should make a profit for them right! (not!)

downsized right to oblivion.

Keep parking them get it over with

I just don't understand. Lakefield is a guy who im sure has plenty of money already in the bank, has basicaly lived most of his life...seeing as he is not in
his 20s anymore 😀 ......Why would you waist your time with a company when you know you do not have your best interest at heart in running it? Wouldn't you rather be doing other things with your life? Would you say its greed? Why would anyone put their self through the headace of it all?

Just once id love for someone to take over and say...hey guys...im here for the long hual...its not about me..its about all of us and its time we make a go of this company and kick some ass!

He is quoted as saying he did it at the request and as a favor to his long-time friend Dr. Bronner. I'm sure that Lakefield is extremely sorry he agreed.

Lets see where shall I start?

All my furloghed mainline employees will have a job at MidAtlantic.

Hmm, did not see all the mechanics get hired at MDA, not one utility person who was laid-off got hired and no stock clerks.

Round 1 of concessions will be enough to save the company.

Gee, then 10 weeks later his boss threatens chapter 7, so the employees under that threat give more. Then a year later, Dave says give more or quit.

His POR plan failed, and actually increased costs, not decreased.

Airbus outsourcing.

Do I need to continue?

Look for bruises on his forehead from him banging it against the wall saying. "WHY WHY WHY did I agree to this"

If Lakefield pulls this place out of the fire and I think he just might it would be wise for him to change his phone number lest Bronner call again. They must be great friends

Bob,

I remember clearly when you were giving Siegel praises for his job here at U while he was on this property. And when the next CEO comes, I suspect you will do the same thing.

Lakefield doesn't bang his head at all. The guy was in retirement. And by taking on this job, he was able to increase his pension by approx. half a million a year in salary. Plus, stock options. And if the Board terminates his contract, he will cash in at 3 times his salary.

Geez, let me see....I feel so bad for these guys.

Anyone remember years ago the videos that were sent to every employee from Wolf/Gangwal? I forget the reason for it, maybe it was to sell everybody on the Airbus deal or the RJs. Anyway, that's not important. What is interesting is that Wolf said we "cannot downsize to profitability". As we all know we have downsized for that exact reason. It will be interesting to see if Mr. Wolf was right or the last two administrations are right in downsizing or rightsizing that some have called it.

It is true.. You can not downsize to profitability..

When was the last time US had a profit?

They keep donwsizing and profits never show up..

Sure you can. It's not common, but it's hardly an impossibility.

Lets get more specific will USAirways be able to downsize to profitability. Unless fuel prices plummit fast the answer is no.
