Passport Issue

A friend sent away for his passport in January and still hasn't received it for a trip next week. No one from the Department of State is responding to his inquiries and apparently the MSY office is handling it, but was off for Mardi Gras--apparently that is a federal holiday in MSY. Anyway, any suggestions for getting the passport back before his trip next week? Thanks.

I believe if he goes to the State Department's website (www.state.gov) for passports, there is a way he can check the status online.

Or have one expedited through your local Congressman's office. They can do them under one week.

I remember when I filled mine out I could (and did) pay extra for it to get expedited. I also had to supply a letter stating the date and reason needed for the quick-turn on my passport. I know this does not help your friend now, but I just thought to post it for future reference.

You can go to LAX and get it the same day. Go early and be ready to stand in line. But you will leave with your PASSPORT in hand. Been there done that.

Not sure where you live,but as Warrior said there are several offices around the country that can give you a Same day Passport. Only difference is you do need to call and make an appointment at most offices. You need all the proof of who you claim to be as well as your airline ticket.
