Will they let you board the aircraft from PHL to the Dominican Republic without a passport on hand?

I would consider the Dominican Republic in the caribbean so you would be required to have a valid passport. Obviously only Puerto Rico and US Virgin islands are not included in the passport rule. Will they let you board the aircraft from PHL to the Dominican Republic without a passport on hand?
My friends and their families all filed for their passports the week prior Christmas, all but 1 came yesterday. And their flight is tomorrow. I don't believe a passport is necesary to get into the DR, just coming back. I suggested that he fly down there and go to the Embassy/Consulate there in DR. He is an american citizen and he should have gotten it faster, but with this onslaught of needs, everything is taking longer. Are Int'l tix transferable? I he can work something out.Every passenger has their documents checked before departing and the PNR is flagged if it is not.
Have you lost it?
If you do not have the proper documents airlines are fined and they must fly you back. Which is why they make relly sure that you have the proper documents to clear csutoms. It is up to the destination country if they take you but unless you are requesting asylum then you are on the plane back.
If they are going to attempt to get a U.S. Passport in the DR, they should count on 7-10 days after application and make certain they know/have all of the necessary unique documentation which will be required before leaving on the trip.My friends and their families all filed for their passports the week prior Christmas, all but 1 came yesterday. Yeah he went down to Philly to try. They did this ALL before Christmas and they got their passports yesterday except him. I filed for my passport January 26 and got mine already, and I didn't have to rush it, since I don't travel till next month. I just hope he gets it straight. He has a twin brother but he doesn't have a passport. But then the ticket names are different. Puerto Rico and the Virgins are still part of this country. This is the 21st century, I still would like to know why we need all this info, a Drivers Licence or Gov't issued ID isn't good enough. The ONLY Caribbean islands that don't requre a passport (if US Citizen) are: Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands. All others, you will not be allowed to board w/o a passport. You'll have to contact the US Embassy / Consulate for emergency travel.
Yeah, tighter control of the borders. I never thought I'd ever need a passport to go into Canada or Mexico. Here we are.Yeah he went down to Philly to try. Philly has Federal Offices there, it should, it is the Birthplace of this nation.Yeah, tighter control of the borders. I never thought I'd ever need a passport to go into Canada or Mexico. Here we are.
I see. So they aren't in Philly yet! A bunch of us used to talk about going to Denver, San Francisco or Los Angeles to get our passports same day. I hope they are able to resolve it before travel!
Yep Yep.. I simply meant there should be offices there but I didn't know which cities.Philly has Federal Offices there, it should, it is the Birthplace of this nation.

My friend went down to the Fed Offices in Philly today cause he didn't get his passport yet, his kids and wife received theirs yesterday. They applied for it the week before Christmas. I know this is not US or any airlines problem, I just was inquiring what would the result be. I wasn't sure if they checked going down and back or just coming back. He has over $5000 invested in his Family's vacation. I filed for my passport January 25 and got ine last week. Also on the news tonight here, the person who worked at the one passport location just got arrested today, for something to do with the people's money. I am not sure if that is where he went. And if that is the case, I think they should be held responsible. I just heard the news part on the news but didn't catch all the details. It's a crazy question anyway...fly international without a passport? Who would attempt that?
