Pew Research study says MSNBC more opinionated than Fox

But by doing what they want to do, will it lower the overall tax burden? That's where you want to go.
So...where do they get their money to run the state Dell? If the income tax is gone and the sales tax is held down...where does this magic money come from?

No magic money, they have a lower tax burden most likely due to fiscal responsibility.....wouldn't you think?

Or do everybody have to spend like a democrat?

It's part two of the "taxes are always bad" discussion. Federal taxes are bad - STATES should be responsible. So federal funding is cut to states. The GOP in Kansas was elected on a "taxes are always bad" platform. No federal funding, so many costs are now pushed down to the local level. ANd locally, "taxes are always bad". So don't think about raising local sales taxes or property taxes.

When will it backfire? Well...woke up this morning to a freak snowstorm. What will the local folk think when the city and county decide that in order to cut costs, roads will only be cleared once, and even then only main thouroughfares willl be cleared. Might not go over good in the golden ghetto of Johnson country, where the cities and counties even plowed cul de sacs.

That's the reality of the whole problem.....soon over the horizon, lots of things aren't going to be able to paid for.

If a woman wants to degrade her self that her her prerogative. If you want to ruin your health by drinking soda or eating junk food then again that is your prerogative. I do think an insurance company should be able to increase your rates.

As for marijuana, I do not care if it's a medicine or not (it can be used as such). If US law will allow alcohol and nicotine then there is no justification to ban marijuana.

This difference is marijuana is illegal. When it's smoked around me on a public corner and I ask the person to move to some other place and they blow smoke in my face, they find out real fast how quickly the smirk goes off their face when their roach is crushed by my Nocona Boots.

Thankyou for pointing that out Cpt. Obvious. The question is why? Was it to protect the the budding cotton industry? Hmmmmmm? It certainly had nothing to do with any health concerns since liquor and nicotine are far more deadly.

My point is that there is no legitimate state interest in restricting marijuana use give the other legal substance that are allowed. These laws are as antiquated and back wards as the silly blue laws that I have to put up with here in TX.

The outlook on personal rights is changing in this country. Two states have passed laws legalizing the use of marijuana and more are considering it. Seven states have legalizing equal marriage laws and there is a very strong probability that the SCOTUS will make this entire issue disappear when they announce their ruling this summer. Support for equal marriage rights has done from about 37% in 2003 to close to 60% in 2012. The younger generations are making their mark. Time for the old foggies to get the hell out of the way.

It was fear of Black musicians who used marijuana and cocaine and might destroy white civilization.

Until fed legalizes it....moot point.

SCOTUS marriage issue will leave it to the states.

True enough Dell...but there are a LOT of people who aren't aware just how much cuts at the federal level are going to impact their local community. When the feds don't fund states and the states don't fund cities and counties, then we are going to have to rely on what WE are willing to pay for.

Now that I am in my 50's, the older I get, the more I realize my parents were right, corporal punishment should be allowed and pot should remain illegal. My company has a zero tolerance, as it should with having tetrahydrocannabinol in my system. I don't want to be anywhere near someone smoking ILLEGAL drugs.

Having grown up in Texas, I'm glad you have to put up with "silly" blue laws. It's people like me who vote and will elect those with similar values. Family values which are political and social beliefs that hold the nuclear family to be the essential unit of society.

Most people have no problem cutting funding to programs they do not use. Thing is the programs are used by someone so nothing gets cut.

Ah ha!

Now we know the whys and hows behind entitlements and how they are the root of all evil.
