Ok.

I got you in here.

Now what can I say. Oh yeah, I don't know if anyone out there is interested .. but umm, that fat thread made me mad at myself again. I used to be skinny! I swear, I mean.. I did 65 mile trek in the mountain in 1997 for Christ's sake! I trained for a year to do that!!

Now I feel like a fat blob, just reading that post about having to buy two seats made me hate flying even more. I want to do something about it. I was wondering.. does anyone out there have the same desire? I figured I would ask just because I know sometimes co-motivation goes a long way!!!

There's this health club I'm interested in joining. It's located in Central Phoenix (20th and Camelback) .. called LA Fitness.

Msg me here if you want to build muscle / burn fat / have a person to work out with / etc. Please!!!

Try this to kick things off...I have lost 18 LBS in 2 months by replacing two meals a day with Lean Cuisine meals. I start the day with Oatmeal (steelcut is the best) or 3/4 cup of the South Beach Cereal, then a snack of fruit cheese. Then a LC for lunch, another snack mid day, and a LC for dinner. The weekends are “off daysâ€￾ I eat what I like but keep the portions in check (nothing bigger than my fist) at each meal.

It works and if you fly you can cook them anywhere, and they stay frozen in a cooler…they even cook in the A/C ovens in about 15 min on high.

Good Luck and keep at it!

I'll top that, Andy.

I lost 22 lbs over the summer by strict portion control and every breakfast drinking a large class of cold skim milk with a little choc syrup mixed, and that is it. For Lunch and dinner, whatever you normally eat, eat only half of it. Snack only on a portion of fruit in between lunch and dinner. I went from a whopping size 12 to 6 in about 10 weeks.

Increase activity either no less than 10 minutes 3 times a week, or no less than 30 minutes once a week (you don't have to exercise much when you are cutting portions), take a vitmin every morning, and whatever you do, do not eat past 6 p.m. You should lose between 2-3 lbs a week. No extra shell-out of cash for a diet with special foods. Just sensibility and commitment to lose some unnecessary weight.

Stress makes me lose weight!! lol

There is a good weight loss program for fly4free...just get incredibly stressed out over the job (assuming it is US) and the pounds will fall off. I lost about 25lbs my self. lol

For me, I had the white of a hardboiled egg for protein and maybe some lean meat, turkey chicken etc. Just a slice. Also had vitamins and an orange.

I had a sandwich, soda pop ( hate diet) fruit and cookies. Try to be as active as you can during the day. Skip escalators, walk as if you are 10 minutes late for the most imnportant meeting of your life. I ate close to normal portions for lunch and dinner but skipped unecessary things. Salad dressing as a side that you dip fork in. Skip cheese.

Increase activity either no less than 10 minutes 3 times a week, or no less than 30 minutes once a week

Get up early and do exercise at least 3x a week. 20-30 minutes. Exercise before eating, it forces the body to burn stored fat for energy. Ther are all sorts of exercise shows on Fit Tv. Tape some to watch whenever you can exercise. Before breakfats or before dinner. Add weight training too. Muscle burns fat.

(you don't have to exercise much when you are cutting portions), take a vitmin every morning, and whatever you do, do not eat past 6 p.m.

AMEN on the last thing. if you NEED a snack, try pretzels. Fat free and it satisfys that crunchy, salty desire. 🙂 You have to have some treats or you will give up or cheat.

I lost about 35 lbs over 2.5 months. You have to burn more calories than you take in to burn fat. No magic to it.

Play soccer.

It'll feel great, you'll get in shape, and the "high" you get from it is unreal.

Since you're in PHX, you can probably find a pickup game just about any day of the week. In the summer, you can play indoors.

-7 pounds and counting in 3 weeks.
Health wise have not been the best- mind is NOT ON FOOD>
small small portions..
have no desire of holiday baking.
1) if you indulge a little, do it first thing in the morning.
2) NO AFTER 7pm EATING-that's a big fat(no pun intended)no no.

row.... on ergs in the gym, or at that nifty basin near LCC hq. (at least it appears to be a rowing basin) I wonder if there is an adult program.

You should get some lessons for rowing.. and a few instructions for the erg at the gym.

I'm game if anyone else has weekends off --- there are some good trails over at Canyon Lake area & the Superstitions that can be done in a day.... my biggest gripe has been that south mountain is too crowded.

hmm.. tempe town lake.. they may offer boats and stuff there, but I know nothing about being able to row or bring your own craft etc..

I live in Central Phoenix.. probably about 2 miles or less from Camelback mountain (I live on Camelback & SR-51) so there is a mountain nearby. I have seen so many news stories about people being killed or being rescued from there it's not funny though.. it must be a more advanced mountain. I may do mountain climbing after I regain stamina and able to walk 2 miles without wearing out. I did 7-8 miles a day in New Mexico.

I suppose I feel my best chance of losing the weight would be to walk it off. If I lived in a neighborhood it would be easy, but I live along a busy street in a apartment complex.

I have been considering LA Fitness for a few years, since I found out it was in the shopping center across the street. I mean, at one point the cost seemed minimal.. but now that I work for an Airline it'd be like paying for a car! (rofl)

Dieting.. well, I mean.. I am not perfect but I don't gorge myself on fattening deserts or something like that. I realized the other day.. and this is weird.. my stomach doesn't really send me signals like it used to. I can't get my stomach to rumble or get it to tell me I'm full. I know that it's not just the stomach that does that, but that's supposed to be the first sign to tell you you've eaten enough. I'm not sure why it's like that, but I've tried to cut down on food take regardless. Sometimes I eat and still feel hungry.

If you don't have the discipline for "portion control" I recommend drinking a large glass of cold skim milk (if you like milk) add some choc syrup, it would fill you before you start a meal, so that you don't over eat.

Trust me on this one and just try it.
