Fact: Piedmont has cancelled all new hire classes.

Fact: Air Wisc. is taking over a lot of Piedmont flying.

Rumor: From our training department we're losing 4,000 hour of flying in the very near future.

If my math is correct that equals about 8 to 10 DHC-8 aircraft getting parked.

Its good to be a Wholly Owned.

America West going to bring most of the dashes to tht west coast to fly feeder for them since the people in the west coast seem to have no hang ups in flying props.

the above is speculation at best

That might have something to do with the ORF/PHF crew base closing in Jan 06. The company still hasn't said if the base closing is a transfer of flying or reduction in flying.

I'm not sure where this rumor is starting. Piedmont is not losing any aircraft. Air Wisconsin is only taking over a few ORF flights (there was only a minimum there for crews anyway).

No one ever said we were losing aircraft, but that we are losing 4,000 hours of flying on the east coast.

Getting parked on the property until another place is found for the aircraft.

Regardless, this could mean down grading again at PDT.

Doesn't make sense to me. If they wanted to reduce flying, they'd have rejected the leases on some more Dash 8's in bankruptcy, which they didn't do.

Not that they have to make sense, but still.

It doesn't make sense to me either. If anything there might be an increase or shift in prop flying. I spoke to some PDT crews tonight and they had heard nothing about a reduction in hours.

It is possible, however, that some prop flying will move west to replace some MESA flying at HP.

With PDT a subsidiary of the new US, I guess there are no longer geographical boundaries for the operation. I know PDT has some DH8-200's which would be needed out west.

PS--to the crew I flew with tonight, if you read here, thanks--it was a pleasure talking to you.

There aren't too many leases left on the Dash 8s. 13 on the -300s, but they along with the few 100 and 200 leases were renegotiated during the first bankruptcy.

I don't see the upcoming reduction in our flying as a cost reduction issue.

Well if Group was smart they would send the Dash's back down to Florida!! That was the Perfect Aircraft for Point to Point!!! And the business folks loved us down there (along with all the American Airline Pilots)!!
Sorry, that was only a pipe dream...... Just thought about those Key West Overnights!!!!

if this scenario is true, what will happen to the two cities that have pi employees on the ramp--ABE and MDT?

This would only effect the crews. Not having PDT flts in a station usually doesn't involve a switch in ground handling. PGV has all PDT DH8s flying and is a PSA ground station.

ORF/PHF was a large base wasn't it? It seems they would have to move the flying somewhere else. I was talking to an F/A I know in CLT and this month they only had 8 hard lines. Where are all those crews from ORF going to go?

Is the "new" US losing the Mesa DH8 flying? Then it would make sense to move some PDT flying over to the PHX area.

No. HP doesn't care much for the Dashes, they use them to bring skiers in/out of the mountains. I don't have the annual report in front of me, but I believe the Mesa dashes are under contract until the end of the decade.

Our -8's are pos, however. Most(if not all) don't have an APU. In PHX. No APU.

the training dept told you that? you should know better than to listen to any of the jagoffs there, they were prolly just trying to stir dissent and bring moral down even more, that's their MO, point is, don't listen to the training dept, they don't know squat, particularly when it comes to the future of this airlinel
