Hopefully, careerfurloughee answered your questions. I'll add one thing since I've now seen the email you referenced.
"Nearly 200 pilots will retire from June to December of 2006, followed by an additional 239 in 2007."
I'm not sure where they get those numbers - hopefully they have access to the number of pilots that intend to retire early, or maybe they're counting those on the CEL. What I show is:
102 reaching age 60 between 7/1/06 and 12/31/06. Of these, 8 are furloughed/MDA/J4J (some may be recalled before having to retire), and 21 are out on disability. That leaves 73 who will definitely be retiring from active positions (and thus creating vacancies) in the remainder of 2006 (plus maybe 1 or 2 recalled pilots).
225 reach age 60 in 2007. Of these, 15 are currently furloughed/MDA/J4J, and 42 are out on disability.
