A major irritation I have with Alpo is that it's a "career" unto itself. How many people have you ever seen that truly love flying ever work so hard to get themselves elected into positions where flying's the last thing that they do?

Good point. But I don't think that's limited to ALPA. How many "house-pilots" do you know on management's side that somehow always end up with a desk-job at their domicile? I was a Teamster before (No, I don't know where Jimmy Hoffa is buried)and we had our share of career-unionists there. What makes you think USAPA will be different? If you talk to SWA or UPS guys, they have the same complaints.

In the end it's just like Congress....you can only elect the people willing to run, not the ones that would do the best job.
