Leadership of the US Airways unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) yesterday elected officers to serve two-year terms beginning March 23, 2006. Captain Jack Stephan was unanimously elected as chairman of the pilot union's governing body, the Master Executive Council (MEC). Reelected to their respective positions were Captain Kim Snider as vice chairman and Captain Mike D'Angelo as secretary-treasurer.

"It will be an honor to serve the US Airways MEC as their chairman. I look forward to leading our pilots as we begin to write the history of this new airline," said Captain Stephan. "It is time for our union to stem the tide of many years of struggle and strife. We must assure that all the pilots of the new US Airways are recognized and respected for the commitment we have made to secure our success."

Captain Jack Stephan has been a pilot with US Airways for 22 years and currently holds a captain position on the B-757. His ALPA service dates back 18 years and includes numerous terms as a local council representative, as well as chairman of the US Airways Strike Preparedness and Communications committees. Captain Stephan has also served on various ALPA and Company task forces.
