I commend your loyalty but at this point it's moot......ask the many mechanics unemployed...victory! If that is victory what is losing....Sometimes 700, it’s better not to make a post.

calibrator, Did you vote YES or NO for either of the TWO votes the IAM had on the companies POS offer ?

You are going back almost 3 years now, it is water under the bridge. Move on!

There was only one vote on the latest final offer.

like 700 said....whoever voted whatever really doesn't make a hoot at this juncture in time................
what we're hearing now is sometime after or around september U will pull the same thing as was done in TPA.....with PIT base maintenance.....i'd expect to still see a line function...as to FAB engine...god only knows. someone with access to long term clt track info ought to update as to its being relevent.... 😉

I just wonder if it was better to die standing or on your knees? I mean if you had to do it all over again.

PITGuy,

With the leverage that Chapter 11 gives a company....do you honestly think it matters what position we took?

I was a firm believer in standing our ground in BK Part 2.....BK Part 1 tought me everything I ever needed to know about U's Leaderships credibility....and the final straw was the 11th hour hosing of the PIT Facilities prior to BK Part 1 coming t and end.

Honestly....I look to see PIT scaled back to nearly nothing beyond Line Maintenance in the not too distant future. I base that entirely on a few major facts.

(1) The B737-300/400 Fleet is being reduced greatly (CLT can absorb the A319-a321 work with relative ease in light of this fact)

(2) The leases on the PIT Maintenance Facilities are already broken...so a quick exit is not out of the question. (I'm sure nobody would be surprised either)

(3) The facilities are ancient (Hangar 5 being the only thing close to an exception)...and in rather poor condition when compared to other facilities like CLT....or anything else in the Industry for that matter.

(4) The CLT operation and lease rates are very reasonable by comparison....and more space has been created with the outsourcing of numerous shops within the CLT Facility. (None of which I take any degree of pleasure commenting about)

(5) CLT does not have nearly the weather related issues that PIT does....and PIT overcomes this well...but at what cost in real dollars?

I can understand you anger and frustration…if you are an inspector that gravy train is pulling into the station and if you are old enough you will retire but with a reduced pension, big time and if you need to still work, then in the next job you will have to actually work and the wage you earn will not be close to what you are receiving even now after all the cuts. I know what the hell I’m talking about, I lived it. The good jobs and far and few between with the completion to get them ridiculous. Especially if staying around PIT and most other places for that matter if you don’t have other skills or a sheep skin. If getting pissed at me helps you, then knock yourself out, doesn’t matter to me one iota. Like 700 stated, it’s over and that means completely as well. Good Luck and a word of advice: Don’t waste your time on bitterness, it only rots your insides and delays positive actions sorely needed.

What I thought, Anyone that voted YES has given up their right to Whine about anything...A lot of YES voters evidently would like to sweep the past under the rug....As a group, [with the help of the IAM] we deserve everything that was spinelessly agreed to...[including the up coming layoffs]..

You have problem, your attitude which will take you up or bury you. I didn't vote, I simply didn't vote....and don't tell me that counts for a yes, it counts for nothing. I felt a tug this way and that way and therefore decided to just refrain and let the ones with real passion decide. But does it really matter when corporate America controls your very life, like it or not, they do. And just like the lobbyist do and not the politicians who just pretend in the fantasy world they built around themselves for the masses to see. Your world is not a fantasy, you will need to face reality soon, blaming the yes and no voters for your fate is asinine. When I was hired in at U I couldn’t believe they paid that kind of money for what I perceived as doing just about nothing. I knew back then and there it just couldn’t last with the ones like yourself telling me it doesn’t matter because these jobs are everywhere, easy and big bucks, well guess what-- the real world of raw sewage is about to hit you square in the face and the shock wave will set you on you’re a-z-z because your world wasn’t the real one.

Perhaps just prior to U's second exit from BK in mid Sept, they will pull the plug on the Pit Base Mtc facility somewhere around the 11th hour? Just a guess judging by their previous track record?
