Pit Base Maintenance

Voting on a contract is not comparable to being a scab in 1992, you never forget a traitor, and ALPA betrayed the IAM Mechanic and Related by cutting a secret deal to cross a picket line, at least the AFA tried to honor the picket line.

The IAM betrayed the rank and file by having a second vote on the same POS offer...Lest we forget..[going back three years]..

And don't forget the membership voted for it so I guess they betrayed themselves, and you were explained numerous times why there was a second vote.

But I guess it keeps coming back to something that is three years old and that the membership ratified, if you are so unhappy why do you stay?

Now you're getting it, a certain % of the membership did in fact betray themselves, and their fellow workers...

Yeah, I heard the excuse that the membership was calling the union crying about the outcome of the first vote....Do you actually believe the IAM would of held a second vote IF they didn't want the POS offer to pass ??? Get Real...

I plan on staying until [ I ] decide to go....

If it had passed the first time and the IAM heard rumblings from its membership about being unhappy with the outcome would there have been a second vote????????? I doubt it.....the IAM leaders wanted it to pass, they were scared SH******* about what would happen next and the loss of 100% of dues vs only about 50%. I do find it kind of humorous speaking to those who voted "yes" complaining and wanting to now fight? Bottom line the IAM put their tails between their legs and ran!!!! International Association of Machinists???? (machinists=skilled labor?) Soon their membership will consist mostly of ramp persons, but the bottom line is they pay dues!!! I give the credit to Jerry Glass the one VP who did his job and did it well, sweetened the pot just enough each time to get the vote to pass!!!!

You are still making excuses, what have you done to change anything?

You have done nothing but sit on the sidelines, probably signed an AMFA card and just complain.

The truth was the membership was scared and they wanted a second vote, that is why Dave Siegel said he was going to hold his own vote.

And in the first round of concessions there was minimal layoffs as compared to the final offer that the membership just ratifed.

But the bottom line is a majority of the membership ratified so you have two choices, live with or leave.

And you have chosen to live with it and sit on the sidelines and whine about it.

I admit to signing and AMFA card along with many of my co-workers a little competition never hurts!!!!

As for doing anything, we have a contract and are locked in for the next 8 or so years!!!!! Another thing I found a bit amusing wasthe IAM website which according to the IAM "will have a more militant and aggressive tone" What have they done besides talk?

Back to the topic of Pit heavy, rumors are swirling about the closing in Sept, and something that came to mind...during the last concessions and layoff's those that were let go were given lifetime flight, enhanced medical, and a sick time buy back if they were furloughed due to outourcing, well this next round when it happens will be the result of consolidation not outsourcing so guess what? Many unhappy faces in Pit!!!!!

There is NO jealousy from this end. Only pitty for the person who can't live their life after AAA.

Thanks I will relay the message.

You are going back almost 3 years now, it is water under the bridge. Move on!

There was only one vote on the latest final offer.

Maybe you should take your own advice when you feel like cutting and pasting the same old Colodny and Schofield blunders, again. Hmmmmmm...

700UW,

Which side of your mouth are you talking from. The side that knows all or the side that knows nothing.

Not being an ALPA member you will never know the story. I believe that is a line you use all the time.

Just how long after you were banned from this site as Lavman did you wait to become 700UW? Tell the truth. It will set you free!

Still can't face reality huh?

Typical you can't accept the truth.

It is a well known fact that ALPA struck a deal with US management not to honor the IAM picket line in October of 1992, and ALL Pilots would get paid regardless of flying the trip or the trip was cancelled.

The company had the option not to pay any pilot who did not fly their assigned trip, but with the secret deal they paid.

All the DC-9s, MD-80s, F100s, F28s and 737-200s were grounded and thousands of flights were cancelled.

If there was no secret deal please explain to the whole board how every pilot of the cancelled trips got paid, when by the ALPA contract a trip cancelled by a labor dispute of another union gave the company the excuse NOT to have paid it.

Face reality ALPA betrayed the labor movement.

And is that the best you can do?

Once again, don't let the facts get in your way.

And please explain what struck work that ALPA pilots accomplished. SCAB is a mighty tall word for someone just abiding by their contract.
