several persons in supervision have passed on a rather glum outlook for pit base maintenance recently. COB supervisory bids were taken and canidates were offered positions at certain salary then had the offers withdrawn. word on the floor is sometime after the merger bus checks will go to CLT as there will be ample room with a decline in the 737 fleet.
also of note, Air canada has been looting the tooling rather carte blanche getting for the most part what they desire.
discipline in base and line is up with many chickenshit PE-1'S....rumor of a big layoff is imminent..... 😉
its anybodies guess what will come of the fleet work in CLT as to widebodies and what will survive the merger.....maybe lots of room down beyond the mason-dixon line soon.

Funny, expression wise only, but most believed that this exact scenario would occur and now it seems it's coming to pass. Also funny how the U A-holes in management insist on handing out PE-1'S when the end is all but here. Like the foreman in the machine shop who rotted out his esophagus worrying about production and employee discipline and in the end they fired him and he was replaced with another senior foreman’s son, true! U deservers what it's getting, too bad the employees are the ones who are taking the punishment.

These rumors have been circulating through the tribe like the mumps ever since the HP/US Merger became closer and closer to fact.

Where are these stories about AC raiding the tooling coming from? Is this rumor or witnessed fact? My concern is with the Test Equipment not getting back from the vendors as fast as they should...but the problem with that is legendary and known

I wish all the best for PIT Base...Cuz doing anything short of wishing your fellow workers the best..is also welcoming doom to your own door step. <---For Captain (soon the be Reserve Captains benefit) 😛

AC info relayed via heavy maint. midnite supervisor who was involved.

Well AC was not just investing into the merged carriers for the fun of it!!!! Guess who will be doing the heavy maintenance of the combined fleet? Contract...what contract????? The "fighting machinists" will protect the membership or should I say their incoming dues. Yea right............

I guess you forgot about the airbus lawsuit and arbitration victory, it took a bankruptcy judge to hold off the award.

and where is this award?????
I haven't seen it. or heard of an award being distributed out to the effected members?

Did you not read?

It is a pre-petition claim in the bankruptcy court and will be treated as such, the company used chapter 11 to circumvent the arbitration process.

In the section 1113 e filing the judge permitted continued outsourcing of the airbus and then the membership ratified the final offer it brought the work back inhouse.

I commend your loyalty but at this point it's moot......ask the many mechanics unemployed...victory! If that is victory what is losing....Sometimes 700, it’s better not to make a post.

so what you are saying is its a hollow victory.
not one member will benefit from it

oh and yes i do read

educate yourself

Apparently you need to educate yourself, since you did not know what happened.

And it will be settled in court as a pre-petition claim, some monetary value should be assigned.

and the m&r that was affected by such actions will receive what?
no i think you should read between the lines its a moot point--a tie
seigle beat you and your cronies when u over turned out NO vote.

seems to me i can recall someone on this board acting like chicken little
spouting "he will arbrogate the contract"

If after bk emergence the affected m&r get full value of thier losses, then might
the iam have something to brag about.

Without trying to start an arguement....let's avoid using the term "Victory" in this situation.

Getting back the work on the Airbus Narrow Bodies was a win...PIT getting the work may prove to be a very short term win , not a Victory by any stretch.

Losing the Heavy Checks on all the A330's , 767's , 757's and 50% of the dwindling 737 Fleet is a major loss , along with all the jobs that go with it.

Losing Maintenance Stations , GSE sites , all but 50 in Utility , Stores and numerous back shops does not a "Victory" make. No soap sold on that one.

Sure 700....some of us are still around...and your imbedded world with the IAM seems a bit more secure right now , but lets not throw words like Victory around , regardless of the fact that it did take a BK Judge in the companies corner to make all these losses take place.

I know a lot of folks not feeling too victorious about all this...and lets think about them when beating our chests for holding on to hollow and possibly short term attempts at retaining a fraction of what was once ours entirely

The only Victory in all this is for the moment...CLT and PIT Base are still going at a fraction of thier former selves...but for how long? or with how many fewer in the not so distant future?

Victory...is un-conditional...this is looking more and more like either a loss or a armistice at best to me. 😱

And is that the IAM's fault?

It seems you can't comprehend it took a chapter 11 bankruptcy court and judge to make this a pre-petition claim.

And to PF, sorry I am not embeded with anyone, I am not a full-time IAM employee, I work for a living at the airline.
