west coast sources have revealed future vacant hangar space in PIT to be used by Southwest and was included in the deal wooing WN into PIT.
isn't U giving up space in hangar 1 and 2 very soon down the road??
a possible future for U's dwindling mechanic and related force.....

You cant lease something that is all ready leased by another airline.

And why would WN need a hangar in PIT?

They have ones in LUV and a very new one in PHX, and their presence in PIT is not large enough to warrant a hangar, and there is a nice new one in great shape in TPA where WN has a larger presence in PIT.

I know that, but why would WN need or want a hangar in PIT with 14 flights a day?

They have a much larger operation in BWI and don't have hangar, and the same in TPA.

And they have a huge operation in LAS with no hangar, they will not need hangar space all over the country as they vendor out all their D-Checks.

And none of theirs have crashed as a result...

They perform all their C-Checks in-house, 1/4 D-Checks and have draconian oversight at Tramco (formely Boeing) where their D-Checks are performed.

Lets see Air Midwest crash in CLT, and 700UW three emergency landings and 703 emergency landing on first revenue flight after both being in MAE and 7 out of 12 planes having problems so tell me why the FAA is investigating MAE and why they are down their now watching everything that MAE is doing on US' aircraft.

And why can't they wiegh A/C 674 that has been down their for a month, gee, they don't know how to wiegh it, why would a company send a plane to a vendor that does not know how to do the work? And the plane can't even be ferried out as it is not legal to fly until the weigh job has been completed.

Rumor has it when they tried to wiegh it yesterday finally it fell off the scale and now has some major damage to it (unconfirmed) as of yet.

so they have no east coast hangar space?? thats interesting...hmmm....

And they have been flying on the east coast for 10 years now, that never stopped them.

Like many airlines including US, they won't lease a facility for unscheduled or non-routine maintenance.

They will lease space in a hangar when needed or necessary, airlines do lease space in hangars to other airlines for non-routine maintenance so they don't have to work on a plane outside to get it back in service.

Here is a prime example of a UAL Airbus in the CLT hangar when UAL flew mechanics in to fix a nose gear problem.
