Pit Papers View On Today's Court Action

BB,

Thanks for posting these articles.

Labor did a heck of a great job on the members behalf. IAM, AFA, CWA, just awsome. Sorry to report however, ALPA's so called presentation...relying on a pilot ratified agreement to help the company survive and thrive was "luke warm" at best. I guess they thought the judge would give them an "atta boy"...

But he didn't.

Wasn't sure if ALPA was defending the pilots against an interim 23%, or more so promoting the company's stance on hammering the rest of labor. It wasn't clear why they made an appearance at all.

I got the sense that the Company's attorneys were showing signs of frustration with the judge's acknowledging labor lawyer's arguments and his comments validating his acknowledgement and agreement on various issues.

My hunch...company is not gettin all the motions granted that they seek. Saw all the execs in a hudle confering with the co. attorneys. Signs of frustration was plastered on Jerry.

Awesome.

PS: Anyone see signs of stirring from USA320????? Nah, me either. He'll probably have a sleepless night disappointed the the judge didn't rule.

Hard to say what the company will take from this. Judge hasn't ruled on 23%, but his delaying the ruling means he is really thinking about all arguments presented, even with the pension payment issues.

Time for Mangment to start bargaining in good faith, if they even know what that is.

PitBull, tell your lawyer that he/she done good by getting Davis to admit in open court that managers got a 4% raise in April. So, for a manager making $100,000/yr in March of this year, the 5% cut represents only a 1.2% cut from March salary.

$100,000 + .04($100,000) = $104,000
$104,000 - .05($104,000) = $98,800

Another way of looking at it...
The manager is taking a gigantic $100/mo cut from the salary he/she was making in March which was $8333.33/mo. I suppose his/her children will have to go to school barefoot.

I can handle the meanest a**hole in the world if I'm paid fairly. In fact that probably is not far from the current truth for our fine CWA folk's. But, to think that any of us will be satisfied with a free pizza in the break room and an ata-boy from time to time is delusional with the kind of cuts being discused. Every term currently offered my management would have to be changed radically, and then there is always the trust issues to deal with.....

from the article -

The judge, in delaying a decision on that payment, acknowledged that pensions "are one of the reasons people take the jobs they take." Leitch countered by saying that employees "shouldn't be counting on" their pensions as a reason for working at US Airways.

He must be from the law firm Dewey, Cheetham and Howe.....

This management group is RUTHLESS!!!! I hope the judge sees right through them and gives them a taste of their own medicine!!!!!

PitBull,

It is true that the judge has not ruled on this, not a surprise. I would hope he does think things out, and that he will do the right thing. This is BK cort, and in the end the judge must make a ruling that the math works to operate and pay creditors.

If you are not negotiating, you should be, the ruling is coming, as will pay and benefit cuts, it is a not brainer.

Get with it. Next week we shall see...what are you hoping for, no pay cut? Do you think that would work?

Or do you just want to see us liquidate so you can work with you daughter?

BTW, insulting me for my viewpoint is not debate, that is why I did not respond to your last replies to me...you better than that (I thought), prove it.

UYH

If I were the judge, seeing the drama queen ways of management, I would do exactly what management has FAILED to do...implement between 10-15% cut until contracts are settled. I just don't believe a word management says right now. The 23% was a way of making us sign whatever they offer..the old put up or shut up...the sky is falling...well, guess what? The sky is still here. Finally, someone is starting to see this management group for what they are..devisive, arrogant, and unreasonable.

I don't think Pitbull is in anyway suggesting that the judge would not implement any cut..just that he may not believe evreything the managment represented lawyers say. You see, this group has scared us sooo badly into believing whatever they say. If the judge says 23%, then fine. But to not stand up to these jerks? Now THAT would be cowardly!!

It's absolutely amazing. This company is down to no arms and one leg, yet people are still yelling, "Dance, Bojangles!."

actually, i could use some quality time with my fishing rod....

looks like maybe those union dues are worth what we pay then??

maybe the judge sees this band of merry pranksters for what they truly are-union busting fools.

The union groups here are already doing pretty a good job in the act of self-destruction. Management/non-union jobs had their pensions eliminated close to 15 years ago. The writing has been on the wall in bold-face, and everyone has been free to leave at any time.
