Prop 8 over turned in CA

Just curious??

Suppose that somehow we found out the name of the SEAL team member who put a bullet between the eyes of Osama bin Laden rendering him extremely dead.

Suppose it later came out that the very same SEAL team member was as Gay as Pink Ink? Still feel as you do now?

Isn't expecting logic from ignorance like squeezing blood out of a rock?

There have been gays serving in the military since militaries have existed. They have served with honor and distinction beside their straight counterparts. The service people I have spoken with and those I have heard speak or read about, all have said they know who is gay and who is not and it does not make any difference. So long as the service person (gay, straight, male or female, white black or any other minority) can do their job they do not care.

The sad part is the ignorant slobs like the one above have no idea that that same ignorance being used against gays in the military was also used to prevent women and minorities from serving. Yet here were are with women and minorities serving in the military and our military is still able to place 79 soldiers into hostile territory, accomplish their mission and bring them all back home.

Ignorance will always be a part of society. Fortunately as those generations die off, the ignorance becomes more and more rare. The younger generations do not seem to be as biased and ignorant as those who came before. The Hackmans of the world are dying off (thankfully) and the world is spinning on it's axis just fine.

I won't go as far as to call the poster an ignorant slob. Some persons of faith believe that homosexuality is a sin. Actually I number myself among them and as a result of my beliefs I don't have sex with men. Now, since most in this country believe in a basic Judeo-Christian value system in which all are sinners, then following that logic one can and I will argue that as citizens, Gays have the right to become "Citizen Soldiers" same as anyone else.

BS. You do not have sex with men because you are not genetically predisposed too. You did not 'decide' to be straight at some young age. You saw a naked girl one day and got a woody and realized 'hey, I like those girly parts'. The fact that your religious beliefs support your genetic predisposition is merely circumstantial. I have no faith in any supreme being and I have never had the urge to have sex with a man.

Just to play the what if game. What if some event in your life were to shake your faith to the point that you no longer believed. Can you conceivably see your self being attracted to a man and having sex with him? Is there even a .0000001% chance of that happening? After all, according to your statement it is a choice you have made. I have yet to find a person who is gay who has 'chosen' that life.

Secondly, whether or not he believes it is a sin to be gay or not has nothing to do with him being an ignorant slob. That is a result of him not realizing that the Senate passed the bill and that the ban is in clear violation of the COTUS. His religious faith is not at issue.

I'm not going down that road for a variety of reasons. First one being the jury is still out on genetic predisposition on several social issues including one that has affected my life in a very adverse manner, which would be addiction of a partner. So how you or anyone else feels about it, for me it's a lifestyle choice. There is evidence of a "Gay Gene" as well as an "Addiction Gene", however nothing overly concrete to date.

Whether it's a lifestyle choice or not, it doesn't change the facts that any sovereign citizen has the right to become a citizen soldier and defend his/her country. Patriotism apparently is NOT a genetic predisposition and should not be interfered with.

What is 'partner addiction'? I have never heard that terminology.

OK since you're a little slow today, I'll spell it out for you.

It's called HEROIN, Got that? HEROIN!! To the tune of $125,000 over 2 years, three Cold Turkey kicks, Forgery charges and a stolen Ford Explorer. Never mind the fact that I have 5 death threats, a relocation and a partridge in a pear tree. I like to keep things private but since you're thick as a brick I spelled it out for you! And YES you struck a nerve.

Now run along with your HomoPromo Agenda

So since I have no experience with heroin addiction and you use an obscure term to reference it I am thick? Yea what ever.

I never meant to offend you. I had not heard the term, BFD

To associate drug addiction with homosexuality makes about as much sense as the 'next they will let animals marry' advocates. So you run along with your 'straight power' agenda.

You still did not answer the question though. Were it not for religion, do you think there is a remote possibility that you would chose to be gay?

Well I'm pretty sure I'm not genetically predisposed and I've made my lifestyle choices I thinking the answer might be a "NO". However I've learned to never say never. One thing I'm certain of is I don't give a damn who screws whom just so long as everyone is of age and the same species.

I do draw the line at bestiality and now thanks to one person, addicts recovering or otherwise. I grew up around gays since I was 10 and frankly I have no bias because I just don't care.

I do not see how it can be both. I have not read any studies that support the theory that genetics can be overcome by will power. I can no more will my self to change races than I can to change sexual preference. It is who I am. Bias is learned, genetics are not. Medicine does not view food addiction (for example) the same way it views cancer or hereditary diseases.

I believe that you have a preference for women. That was not a learned trait. You are straight because your genetics dictate that. Your religious beliefs merely coincide with your genetic 'belief' at least in this situation. The coincidence is some what moot due to the fact that being gay is quite rare statically.

There is not enough proof for me. We've already been down the "Global Warming" junk Science route. Genetic research continues on a great many things including a genetic marker that may lead to a cure for Diabetes, which to me is far more important to society than whether two guys want to bone each other.

Global warming? Separate issue and the fact that a small section of science was suspect does not discount the mass of data but what ever.

What does genetic research have to do with homosexuality if it's a choice? Social issues are just that social issues. They are not genetic. Is this another one of those OBL picture things? You have not decided if its social or genetic and you are just arguing which ever flavor suites you today?

LOL Don't you have some confiscated income to redistribute.

Truth is I don't care today, tomorrow or any other day who bangs whom, that's not changing ever. I think the lifestyle/genetics is DEVIANT regardless of the root cause/choice. Because I believe it to be a certain way doesn't to my mind preclude participation in society in the same manner as anyone else would. Any further questions? Please refer to 1st 2 sentences of this paragraph as I don't know how to be more clear.

I treat it the same as I would BDSM

I guess as long as you support equal rights for all that is what counts. I believe that belief in fictional being and allowing that belief to runs ones life is deviant but I support every ones right to believe as they choose.

I them the same as flat worlders and moon hoaxers.

Carry on.
