It's a regional airline. The contract was not designed to have people wait 5 years to upgrade. Our pay tops out at 7 years. Why? Because they never intended someone to sit there that long. Top it off with 2 years reserve and you have the makings for a "Pretty S ity Airline". 7 years just to make $36k.
IN ORDER TO PAY RENT WE NEED TO MAKE A LIVING. F/O PAY DOES NOT ALLOW THAT. NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY WE NEED TO UPGRADE IN A RESONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME? TOP PAY IS $36/HR. TOP FRIGGIN PAY! MAX Yes for dealing with all this crap and max out at $36. And then move backwards in schedules.
A first year F/O at PSA can expect to make $19k for the first year. Woo $22 for the second. Come on to PSA where not only do we go into bankrupcy but we put our pilots there too!
Then quit. It's not that hard. Go work somewhere else.
Eagle's upgrade is something like 10 years now....isn't that twice as bad as you have it? What's PDT's upgrade time these days, I can't imagine it's all that quick either.
I agree, working at a PSA (or any regional for that matter) is not a pleasant experience. So quit. You said yourself, other junior F/O's are doing it.
Your going to give yourself heart problems getting wrapped around the axle about PSA. It's just a job. Is it worth it to loose your medical for $22K a year and the crap that comes down from TK and company? Quit.
Your not going to get even by burning more fuel, mainline pays for it. TK could care less what you burn. Doesn't effect his life.
You want to get even, quit while your on a trip, in an outstation somewhere. Quit at 5am, on a layover, where there isn't another legal crew and there are 70 warm bodies waiting to go to CLT.
Whatever you do, just quit!
