Question for the West

Catcrew is unique. It is homegrown. It was developed by the IT dept at UsAirways. It was designed for US and it is user specificate. It is not just a system to place your bids.....you can also track trip processing in real time. It keeps scheduling honest.

And guess who is going to be in charge of choosing the new system? The Director of Scheduling. This system holds Scheduling's feet to the fire and they hate it.

Think about it.
 
According to a higher up in Scheduling here out West, neither Maestro or CatCrew is going to be utilized as they lack certain fundamental abilities that the company would like to have. So, both systems will be replaced at the same time with something NEW.

Yeah, I guess UAL and NW have their own systems, but, it will be "NEW" for us........
 
Please excuse my ignorance but what is PBS?

No worries Chief. PBS is the Preferetial Bidding System. It started at AWA in mid 2000 (?). If you are computer savy and junior...it's OK. If you are senior and still use an abacus (sp), you may have trouble. :blink:

You use a set of perameters to tell the system if you prefer time off, max credit, min credit, overnights in certain cities, avoid Canada (language barrier?), etc. It is a GREAT tool for the company to dole out the flying. Paper line bids were pesky to the company, because if you had vacation and it touched a trip....trip will drop. That's no longer a consideration with PBS.

If you are junior and RV.....well, what difference could it make?
 
Oh, yeah, I'm familiar with PBS. I just didn't know what he was refering to at the time.

PBS would be a lovely tool for us but the company hasn't found a vendor that can create the interface with catcrew. (or at least that's the story they are sticking with)

PB is right about the kind of platform that is used. It's stable as hell. Just about crash proof.

IBM would be more than happy to create the interface neccessary. It is after all their baby.
 
Maestro sucks! Its a great concept HOWEVER, it breaks down every month during critical times. The Union has demanded over and over to get it fixed and of course with the merger it has been put on the backburner along with everything else that matters to us. Recent events have proven that it is getting worse!

You would be better served if they just rolled you over to catcrew. It's not fancy but it works and it doesn't crash. I know everyone says it's old tech but.....it's stable and it holds vasts amounts of info.

It's hard to explain but this "old tech" is Main Frame technology and is where we are going to go anyway. Be it Unix or Linux.(sp?)

Rampage is putting it mildly. More like a witch hunt. Halloween has come early to the PHX base and the
witches on their brooms in full force.

First, an honest disclaimer: It is true that not every one called in has been innocent, but as this mess drags on it is
beginning to get stupid.

Some innocent people are being railroaded by a few incompetent and clearly dumb inflight supervisors.
It cracks me up how these inflight supervisors, who have NEVER flown the line, NEVER used Maestro to bid, and
have NEVER, NOT ONCE processed drop/pickup or a trip trade on the ETB can claim to know exactly
what FA's are doing when they are using the system. How can they detect "abuse" when the don't even
know how to even use the system themselves. One person figures out how to manipulate/hack the
system and suddenly FA's with ZERO history of ANY disciplinary or availability issues are guilty purely by
associaton. This whole witch hunt is a complete joke. Sad part is they think they are right and are so
completely sure of themselves that they will never admit they don't really understand Maestro or it's data.
We in the west know that Maestro is perfect, never breaks down, never kicks people out. Nope its 100%
perfect and infallable. Right guys? 🙄 Therefore, Maestro's data should be used as the sole basis
to determine if one gets fired or not. I suspect that will go over real well in a court case.


Easties beware, this is an example of Ms. Shambles and her management style. If fear and intimidation don't
get the results they want, then they will manufacture what they need to send you off into the sunset. It's sickening.
The only one worse is Ms. Bureson and let's not forget the always lovely Ms. Merl. :down:
Their experience as reservations agents has taught them all they need to know about our jobs as flight
attendants. America West spared no expense in finding the right people to supervise a large base
of flight attendant's. Yep, they made sure to get people that have no f'n clue what we do in our job. I'm
guessing that part will not come as a shock to anyone in the east. Many of you already know that NO ONE in Tempe
has a clue.

Imagine if they would put their energy in to fixing the trash problems in the east and the catering mess effecting us all? Nah,
witch hunts are much more fun. I can hear them now "Double, double, toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble".

Welcome to our nightmare. 🙁
 
Our inflight mgmt out West is a serious joke! They don't have a clue. Always trying to justify there jobs and run around acting like they know what is really going on???! 😱 Yea right! Always ready to discipline at the tip of a hat.

As much as I hate paying for Maestro, because it always goes down at critical times, it is not web based, and kicks us off after 17minutes, I like the idea of having my trips drop, pick up instant, etb instant, up to 4 hours I can pick up a trip. Vacation drop, auto bid, etc. There are some great things about Maestro. The system doesn't hold up from home period. But DL or SW a similar version of Maestro, and it is way more advanced with even better features and is all web based. :up:

Some people that they have called in over this is CRAZY, there is no way they would have done what they are being accused of!!! No way! These suspensions pending termination could ruin these peoples lives! Shambles and her team have gone too far on this one!

Based on reading this thread, I would guess that the East AFA MEC is much stronger than the West's. I do not think the East elected AFA officials would allow or tolerate a witch hunt. You see how vocal the US east is on this forum. I can just imagine Ms. Fasani (PHL international) getting called in for a trumped up charge -- you could hear her yelling all the way in PHX. :lol:

Hacking into a broken system?

America today. Yeah, the system is broken and anyone taking advantage of the fact that we are too cheap (or incompetent) to implement a "finished" system will be flogged. Management at its best.

Nowadays, accountability is only for the little "citizen", corporate entities are always exempt.
 
I had an unscheduled layover in PHX and got the sit around in the "ready reserve" room for a while -- there is wireless internet service there!!. I got to look at Maestro (sp?) and the West reserves got to look at CATCREW. In my limited opinion, Maestro lets you do a lot more with your schedule (if you know the back doors), BUT, CATCREW gives you a lot more information -- albeit in a not so pretty format. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that West reseves can monitor when trips open, which trips open, when they are covered, and where they are on the daily (or future) list to be called. CATCREW is old and ugly, but it gives invaluable information to support pay claims when schdueling makes a mistake (which we all know is seldom ;-) )
