What's new

Reasons to keep the IAM

what's scope language..

you mean work rules that are actually enforceable.. NOT with this union..

IT's always "let me check with management and see what they think"
are you kidding Paallllese

Actually, I was being 100% sarcastic; sorry if it didn't come through...

kev,
I know you were ..

I was just being doubly (if thats a word) sarcastic..

although the seeing eye program is a great org..

A corporate feeding frenzy on Fleet Service after all of this talking turns people off of any union.

Which side are you on?

The corporate trolls are out in force on this board.

I got ONE ..ooh pick me..
THE iam contributes to the seeing eye dog foundation.. A great orgainization I might add..

but other than that... not much there

Hey... Being blind is no joke... I'm blind... Yea, I am, my seeing eye dog read that to me, and he says there's nothing wrong with loving the IAM. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to shoot my dog for being disobedient. (I just hope he tells me where to aim HA!)

DOGS FOR DOUG PARKER!

Save your venom for some one who doesn't care what happens to you.

Like the company.

Instead of bad mouthing the IAM why don’t wonder “boysâ€￾ make yourselves an asset someone is willing to pay for rather dragging your feet thru life and bitching that the union doesn’t make it any easier. There is a name for this kind of mind set...FOOL.

I collect a pension every month for the rest of my life thanks to the IAM and only the IAM.

Hanging around here is your big accomplishment in life, and that's the IAM's fault...give me a break.

You people need to grow up which I know at this point is impossible.

700IAM ,,
and just how great is your monthly pension from the IAM.. just curious..

And we are all standing in line to get the same benefit you have

Be glad you collect your pension now

New pension participants are now on a "B" Scale.

United boys are lovin' that!

I was there a little less than 15 years and when compared to others I know who worked double that time at the mills with the Steel Workers Union am getting almost three times as much as the they receive, fact.

The IAM did the people on pensions good. Go ahead and get another union in there and feed them your dues money and when it's all over pray you can buy food in your old age.

No other union under the sun in today’s world could have provided me with a pension for life which I am collecting. I am 56 and have been collecting for three years now. You needed 10 years and age 50. My pension could make a mortgage payment very easily but Thank God I don’t have a mortgage anymore so it goes a long way in letting me relax and not worry about working tons of OT like most of my coworkers do.

I am now paying into another pension. Some people I work with have over a million invested by virtue of being there 30 years and even less. It’s the GE plan and yes even better than the IAM by light years.

I am blessed to have been part of the IAM and now GE. Look around and see what other retired workers are receiving from these other unions at 50 years of age. Mostly nothing at all. I am talking about people without college degrees, you know the working class. Good unions make the difference in your life, even how long you live. Unless you want to fed a bad union dues and work yourself into the grave trying to stay afloat, you can go that route too by dumping the IAM and showing them, you know, being the fool.

700iam,
thanks for the info.... much appreciated. but please stop with the fool thing.. the IAM obviously did good by you , thats great glad to hear something positive for once, but unfortunately

you are in the minority.. THE PENSION is a VERY important element in a contract.. won't argue that one bit but there is also alot of other major issues that the IAM just can't or won't support

and that's why we are where we are..

anyway thanks again for your story

Ok sorry about the Fool thing...but to me, well you understand.

Before we know it we are there if we are lucky enough to survive everything life throws at you.

For me the IAM did well making a difficult life a little easier. I have my share of woes and more than most and know exactly how rough the going can be. You need all the help you can receive, just don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.

All the best to you in that tough industry. Any union would be hard pressed dealing with a ruthless government backed corporate America that cares nothing for the working class. Go Hillary. Who else is there?
