The restored Piedmont Airlines DC-3 from the Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte, NC will fly to Wilmington, NC on Sunday, February 19, for the introduction of Piedmont: Flight of the Pacemaker, the new pictorial history of Piedmont Airlines. A book signing will begin at 2 PM at ILM-Wilmington International Airport, and the general public will have an opportunity to walk out to view the legendary DC-3.

The following morning, Monday, February 20, the DC-3 will reenact the Inaugural Flight of Piedmont Airlines that originated in Wilmington on that date in 1948. The plane will take off as closely as possible to the 7:15 AM departure time of the first flight which was destined for Cincinnati, OH.

The DC-3 will head to Moore County Airport in Southern Pines, the second stop on Piedmont's 1948 original route, for old time's sake, and the general public is invited to come see the restored plane. After a short visit there, the DC-3 will proceed to its home base in Charlotte at the Carolinas Aviation Museum, arriving around noon. After its arrival, a book signing will take place at the museum located at the Charlotte Douglas Airport until 5 PM.

Piedmont: The Flight of The Pacemaker was written by Frank Elliott and compiled by Elizabeth Norfleet. The book was published by the Piedmont Aviation Historical Society, dedicated to promoting and sharing the memory and spirit of Piedmont Airlines.
