Greetings AirlineForums community,

I am a reporter at LAUNCH Media and am working on a story regarding the use of the FliteDeck app instead of paper manuals and charts. I would like to know what pilots think about the mobile app integration. Please email me at megan@launch.is.

Thank you in advance!

It's awesome, you don't even have to show up to the airplane until 10 minutes before departure. It checks the weather for you, gets the flight plan, organizes the charts for your route, lets the hotel know what time you'll be there and even starts the engines for you. As a bonus feature, they added a button that allows the pilots to order food and drink from the FA's. Pretty cool app!

Doesn't it have quirky in-flight announcements you can recite to make you the really cool captain! 😛

I find it interesting for passengers they must turn off all electronic devices before take off and landing. What about the flight crew's ipads?
