"Right now, America is in crisis: we have been besieged by financial debt, terrorism, and a multitude of natural disasters. As a nation, we must come together and call upon Jesus to guide us through unprecedented struggles, and thank Him for the blessings of freedom we so richly enjoy."

Rick Perry

Makes sense. Praying that we would not get into this mess worked so well, why wouldn't it work to pray and get us out of this mess.

I hope they have a plan B.

Is'nt that also his solution for the drought in Texs?

No one can say if Prayer helps a situation, but it's quite certain that it doesn't hurt.

I believe that God answers ALL prayers, however sometimes his answer is NO!

Did the Prayer that an Army Chaplain wrote for General Patton so he could have clear weather to liberate Bastogne Work? well the weather cleared early and the 101st Airborne was rescued. Power of Prayer? Who knows?

The Patton Prayer

Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call upon Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies and establish Thy justice among men and nations.

Yes and that has worked so well.

It does hurt when that is the only plan you have. When Perry actually implements a real water conservation plan then we can talk. So far there is nothing. No water and no conservation plan.

How convenient. This rational does not require any level of proof. It is like religion itself in that it uses it's self as proof of it's validity. This would be like me saying every plan I ever came up with worked, some times the plans failed but they all worked. I wonder if I could use this logic at work? I guess now Bush can say in all honesty that his bail out program worked and that the two wars in the ME worked as well. Wow, just think of it, everything everyone does works, just sometimes it works wrong. This is great.

Some how the idea of a god making good weather so that people can get killed makes about as much sense as screwing for virginity.

Just a point to ponder. If you're going to continue to spout your atheist Christian hating diatribe then look for a lot more displays of my faith and on a final note, I'm glad you're an Atheist because it's one less person in Heaven so I'll have more space to spread out. 40 Miles of Elbow room in fact.

Works for me. I have no interest in being anywhere that would allow a person with so much hate.

I want to hear him explain his relationship with this nut job. He talks to demons.

Well he also inherited stuff from Bush. And look how successful Texas is now.

It's gonna be a long 8+ years for you libtards.

Almost forgot. He will also have to explain why TX has a $27 billion dollar deficit when republicans controlled both the state senate an the Gov house. Then there is the 8.2% unemployment rate. OOppps.

Which is a point lower than 9.2, that one is easy.

Still high.

He also has to explain his Gardasil idea. I'm sure that will fly well with the small government types.

First off, yes, prayer does hurt. For the same reasons that thinking "everything will be alright" so you don't really need to look out the window when you drive or take your doctor's advice. You're substituting bullshit for real problem solving. Pray all you want, but don't waste time doing so in place of solving problems.

As for Patton's prayer... More bullshit. If it were ever true that god was on our side during that (or any) war, then why the hell would have had to fight the Nazis in the first confounded place? Why does your prayer work only after an uncountable number of young men and women have met untimely and completely unnecessary deaths? There is no answer, that's why. If there was a god, and he really did help out at Bastogne (or anywhere else in that or any war for that matter) it merely underscores what a lazy moron he is. Not the kind of dolt I'd trust my eternity with.

You can have your "heaven." If you ever read up on what paradise is actually all about, you'd see that it really is indistinguishable from hell anyway. An eternity of servitude? Not for me.

It is, and Texas is doing very well, relatively, these days. I certainly enjoy living here. But saying that 8% reported unemployment is better than 9.2 is a bit like saying a compound skull fracture is better than a broken neck. This is something that is still in dire need of improvement.

Dear GOP:

Please, no more Texans who think god is on their side and/or don't want to back down from a fight.

Sincerely:

A great letter to the editor:

Texas, taxes and jobs

I am a visitor to California and a lifelong Texan. Imagine my surprise to encounter an anti-tax signature collector in San Diego arguing that California will lose jobs to Texas if taxes increase.

We Texans have already got all the minimum-wage, no-benefit jobs we can handle, along with lousy roads, a 19th century school system, a high poverty rate, hunger, lack of medical care and the highest rate of uninsured people in the nation. Our education system is declining, and much of the new jobs pay minimum wage. Texas is becoming third-world.

California has so much of what Texas lacks. Be happy to pay your taxes because you are getting so much for them. Tighten your belt and preserve the California you have while you can. Don't destroy California; you will regret it later.
