What's new

Rick Perry - Elect Me...

Still high.

He also has to explain his Gardasil idea. I'm sure that will fly well with the small government types.

I don't know much about Rick Perry one way or another and what I do know I don't like so much. To me he's just another tax and spend guy who hides behind Jesus when it suits him. Those folks rank right next to Obama for me in being useless. Just another opportunist trying to maintain the status quo.

These guys don't get how things work. Classic case is here in MN. MSP is a pretty big City. Ever wonder why there isn't ONE franchised new car dealer in the City of Minneapolis? Simple, the City Sales Tax is 7% and Hennepin County is 6%, So take a wild ass guess where all the car dealers are? Some are literally mere feet over the border in Hennepin County.

Once again the Law of unintended Consequences rears its ugly head. Obama is particularly out of touch economically while guys like Perry seek to "game" the system to make things look a certain way. BOTH have the potential to do enormous damage to the citizens. Obama has a clear track record of being clueless, Perry I think the jury is still out. To me however he is another flim flam man

He's got less baggage than Romney or Gingrich, and more experience than the rest of the GOP hopefuls.

And unlike Obama, he has a legislative history. Obama has yet to sign a real full year budget into law, much less come up with one.

That's like saying leprosy is better than syphilis. Yep, he has a whole bunch of legislative history. History that put TX $27 billion in the whole, Gardasil. Then there is the poor TX school system which is being gutted as we speak. Perry has a whole bunch of experience, unfortunately none of it will help this country.

Yet over half the jobs created in the past 10 years have been in Texas, no?

You can vote for the community organizer, Garfy. Why worry so much about who the opponent is if your guy is so competent?

Never said Obama was competent. In fact I have stated numerous times that I voted against McCain/Palin not for Obama. In regards to Perry. I believe he is worse than the current POTUS.

I have not heard of anything that Perry did to create the jobs. The TX governor is a weak position. The state senate has the power. What Perry has helped do is create a state with a horrendous school system which is being gutted more and more due to budget issues. Created a business environment that is employee unfriendly. And he has put us $27 billion dollars in the hole because he and the Senate cannot control their spending and will not increase the taxes to pay for their expenditures. Although, we do have the highest (as of 2007) property tax rate in the nation.

Then there is the fact that he is a religious zealot. All said and done, he is less fit to be in office than the current resident in my opinion.

A great letter to the editor:

Texas, taxes and jobs

If Cathy from El Paso had gone to LA, most of it at least, instead of one of the nicest cities in the country San Diego her opinion might have been different. Having once lived in So Cal I can tell you all that glitters is not gold. The amount of taxes you pay there along with the cost of living makes life very hard if you are middle class. And the public school system is nothing to brag about.

First you say the Gov is a weak position, then in the next sentence you blame him for the schools and the spending mess when you just admitted the Senate has all the power....

Which is it?

Texas has higher property taxes than some states, but that's because there's no income tax. TX also hasn't had nearly as bad of a real estate market as the rest of the country.

Having lived in the State of ILL with 6% income tax, higher property taxes than TX, a 9%+ sales tax, and some of the highest gas taxes/prices in the country, TX doesn't look so bad...

The senate and he gutted the schools. He wants to take credit, he and the senate can take the blame.

There are worse and there are better. What else is new.

According to the Bureau of Labor Texas leads the nation in at or below minimum wage jobs (we tied with Mississippi).

Just a point to ponder. If you're going to continue to spout your atheist Christian hating diatribe then look for a lot more displays of my faith and on a final note, I'm glad you're an Atheist because it's one less person in Heaven so I'll have more space to spread out. 40 Miles of Elbow room in fact.

Eeeeewe...sorry, there's that no douche rule in heaven.

Gov Perry in a speech in Iowa came out against the Fed regulation to require a CDL for farm vehicles if they travel on public roads. See, Perry is big on states rights over the fed and he saw this as “obscene, crazy". There was a catch through. The regulation does not exist and the DOT has no plans to enact such a regulation. They had public hearings to get farmers views on such issues with the intent on preventing states from going over board with regulations.

So I guess since it was a state who had brought up the idea that Perry is now in favor of the idea? What a moron.

In all fairness, you're not quite right on the issue nationally.

After considerable public outcry, the federal government said Wednesday it won’t require farmers to abide by truck driver rules.

“We want to make it absolutely clear that farmers will not be subjected to new and impractical safety regulations,” said U.S. Transportation Deputy Secretary John Porcari. “The farm community can be confident that states will continue to follow the regulatory exemptions for farmers that have always worked so well.”

DOT received roughly 1,700 public comments mostly against a proposal requiring farmers to meet the same commercial driving requirements as long-haul truckers.

Yet another example of the Feds meddling in something they have no business being involved in.

Rick Perry comes from a long line of Neo-Cons who are equally content as Progressives are in looting the Treasury, just for different priorities. Like I said before Two Wings on the same bird of Prey.

And here I thought you were good at using search tools on the web.

Fact check

Your source conveniently left out a few pertinent items. I am sure that was just an over sight on your part right? If you are going to bust my chops on the use of the web to research things and make your self out to be the end all be all of accurate you ought to do a little better than this Helena BS don't you think?

Here's what happened: Under federal law, the Transportation Department requires minimum standards that states must enforce when issuing commercial driver's licenses. The DOT's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said that states "may be taking varied approaches" to exempting farmers from those requirements, and may be applying the exemption "inconsistently." So, the agency launched a review, asked for public comments and promised to issue regulatory guidance "to help ensure uniform application of the safety regulations."

That request for public comments, which was published May 31 in the Federal Register, generated a storm of criticism and concern — and misinformation. The National Sorghum Producers posted a blog item Aug. 4 that carried this headline: "A CDL to drive a tractor? Another burdensome regulation looms over ag." The blog said: "The proposal from USDOT would force those who operate any farm machinery, i.e. tractors and combines, to have a Commercial Drivers License (CDL)."

Nope. Just another example of one numb nut speaking about something he knows nothing about and another person(s) dittoing something they know nothing about spoken by someone who does not know what they are talking about.
