Presslike News Release: 9 April 2008. Northwest Airlines has agreeded in principal to buy out USAirways. Fleet reduciton of 100 aircraft, consolidation of operational headquarters in which ever of the following cities give us the best deal. CLT, MSP, DTW, PHX, LAS. All flights East of the Rockies to Hawaii will be transfered to LAS/PHX/SEA with our first combined schedule. Hubs that will continue to operate will be CLT, MSP, PHL, DTW, LAS, CLT giving us the largest presence in the United States. The new combined carrier will be known as USAmericaNorthwest. Pilot intergration will be determined by date of hire, with NW pilots recieving super majority seniority, and America West pilots will get secondary super majority. This is base upon of course that a majority of the pilots agree to join USANWAP which will be directed by Frank Lorenzo. Ground staff will be outsourced to 'El Chepo Contractadors. We will eliminate all reservation agents and anybody needing assistance will have to consult with our online service on the new website, www.USAmericaNorthwestAirlines.com
All surplus equipment will be sold in an auction to raise additional capital. USAirways will leave Star to join SkyTeam. With our little overlapping in routes, our discontinued service will have minimal impact on actually having to work together. All maintenance will be outsourced to Ta Mechs Institue who has agreed to service our planes in Delhi for our widebody equipment, while narrow body equipment will be preformed byTravel With Air in St. Croix. We are currently reviving plans to do away with all line maintainence.
This entire transaction will be closed with the swap of LCC stock for NWA stock and a $50 processing fee for each ticket (no stock certificate) owned. We expect approval from the DOT wiithin thirty days as we have been in contact with them providing all the details.
We are confident that this move, combined with our efforts to reduce capacity of the combined airlines by 10%, 100 aircraft, and 15,000 employees will save the new USAmericaNorthWest Airlines. While we realize this will cause great distress for our employees, we know they understand that the most important thing is our goal is to provide safe travel to our passengers and make enough money that we can return the investment our backers have put into our various companies. Furthermore we estimate that we can save $1 by creating this new airline. Leading the new airline venture will be Carl Ichan.
