I sent them money weekly during the "Troubles" by way of NORAID and I sleep very well knowing I helped water the tree of Liberty. The Provo's weren't perfect, they were avowed Socialists, with some nothing more than common street thugs.

The English kept Ireland under the the thumb of tyranny for 800 years, created a famine in an attempt to drive them off their land, committed atrocities against civilians. How many died at the hands of the Brits?

I knew a few "characters" here in Boston, who were somewhat involved with Troubles in Belfast.

There is NO city in the US, possibly Including NYC, that has more hard core Irish than Boston. Hel*, I work on the Dorchester/South Boston line, mere blocks from "Whitey's" former Liquor Store/Hangout !

You like Liam Neeson as an actor ? Ever see him in a great Movie..."Michael Collins" ? (which I viewed again last week) ?? The Irish are HANDS DOWN the Best UNION MEN/Women going. A bit on the THICK HEADED side, but are "stand up "people.

I'm guessing YOU'D LOVE Boston !!!!!!!!!!!! Especially South Boston, and Charlestown !!

Not a Son of Erin, My Mother remarried. To a guy who came off the boat when he was 7. I'm ethically Flemish myself, but from 1974 I was surrounded by this great Irish family of 7 Brothers and Sisters. Now they number nearly 200 counting kids and grand kids It was not uncommon to see 5 or 6 cars in the Driveway with the 26+6=1 Bumper Sticker plastered front and back. Pop, as we called him was a traditional Irish story teller, who fought in the "Rising" in 1916 and in the Irish War of Independence. He regaled us with stories of Connolly, Larkin, the leaders who were executed and his hatred of the Black & Tans. I have vivid recall of rushing home to watch the news as the 10 lie dying in H Block of Long Kesh on hunger strike. Ir was a very sad day in our home when Bobby Sands passed.

I have seen the movie Michael Collins and it's quite good. I've also heard the how when "Uncle" Sean and Aunt Maureen went into the North were pulled over by the RUC and their suitcases thrown from the vehicle and threatened by the RUC right up until they presented their US Passports at which time the RUC neatly repacked the rental car and apologized. No good British b*stards. Sean hasn't gone back for several years as a result. Can you blame him? What do the Syrian military under Bashir Assad do that the RUC doesn't? Neither respect Liberty and both are living proof that Liberty is won and preserved at the end of a gun barrel. All that is required for evil (Assad & Britain) to flourish is for good men to do nothing.

The US Army didn't and COULDN'T kill Crazy Horse, Spotted Tail did, WHO had become an "Uncle Tomahawk" for the Army.
