Saturday night stays reinstated-except for LCC

Laggard Tempe just hasn't found out yet. US is no longer on the 'major airline' phone tree. Next week they'll put out a press release incorrectly implying that they only operate on Saturdays.

Come on. Saturday night stay requirements are bull. US is smart to buck the trend because the free market will not stand for this kind of arbitrary crap, and more people will book on US because they are abstaining.

Most of the time I respect your opinion but you may be suffering from burn out on this board.

Sometimes the "Galley Show" style of replying to posts makes those posts irrelevant.

You're better than that. Please don't become another "drive by poster". l

In an otherwise depressing article, this gave me a laugh:

...

Historically, the restriction has forced business travelers to stay away from home longer in order to secure lower fares, says consultant Robert Mann. "If they make a comeback, it's time to go long hotel stocks," he says.

Do people actually do that? Suckers!

I've had to do a lot of things to cut down business expenses, but staying over the weekend, presumably in a city I've already been to and wish to get away from, is not one of them!

"In certain markets" is a euphemism for "in markets where we don't have to worry about LCCs eroding our margins"

Really.

Perhaps Tempe knows that FF biz travelers don’t rely on US anyway, so why bother?

I don’t think I’ll be going long on any hotel stocks, though.

IMO the majors are bringing back the minimum Saturday overnight to enrich the yield rather than dilute it with customers who are loyal only to the cheapest fare and have the ability to book in advance and reserve better seats, leaving the business traveler who usually doesn't have the option of booking ahead of time with an undesirable seat, or not being able to purchase a ticket for his or her preferred flight. Also, if the business traveler can book in advance but doesn't have the minimum stay requirement usually will book back to back discount tickets if they travel frequently.

please don't be a "drive by" poster, betty.
Debbie, did I tell you how well CO treated me today? I felt like a movie star. Such a contrast--US treated me like a Philly cop treats a Kensington hooker.

Does someone need some time off for rehab? Lay off the minis and stick to the topic at hand.
