Dear America West (Cactus) Employees,
I understand that today you are having a big party to say "goodbye" to the America West name. Having gone through this myself 16 years ago I can honestly say that I know what you are going through and what it means to you. Just remember the name may be changing but since your management is taking over, the spirit of Cactus is still here. You have the respect and support of all of us here at the new US Airways and we are all looking forward to making this the best airline in the industry.

Sure wish I could be there. Alas we are taking usair classes today. They still call it usair here---I start to correct those that do, but I'm sure someone else can do it better. Have a good time. I'll be thinking about ya'll.

I don't understand people's obsession with saying "USAir". If they can't handle the whole name, US Airways, why not shorten it to "US" or "Airways"? Those are two syllables instead of three.

I heard there is going to be an America West Museum there with a time capsule. Any employee is invited to put anything in there. 🙂

They should make the Museum into all the airline that had merge with US Airways and start charging the public to view the memorabilia, old uniforms and such. That would be extra revenue. 🙂

I always liked the USAir name better than the full USAirways .just a personal preference 🙂
