What's new

Scott Brown wins Mass. Senate seat!

The people of Massachusetts have spoken!

LOUDLY

This IMO is the beginning of a sea change that could cost the Democrats EVERYTHING in terms of House and Senate Majorities. It could even cost them the White House.

Bottom line in all of this is people don't want what they preceive to be a Government takeover of our health care system. America's Bullshite meter just pegged and in all places Massachusetts

This is great but I don't think Pelosi and Reid are calling it quits just yet. Be very wary.............they are desperate.

It's a 4% margin of victory with 89% of the ballots counted. Hardly a slam dunk. I do hope the balance of power is brought back. Perhaps now a better make over of the health care system can be brought about but I won't hold my breath. The partisan BS will still prevail I believe and the system will have to implode before it is repaired.

The sun will still rise in the east as it always has.

Well the finger pointing and blame game is already in full swing. The Democrat implosion in Mass. reminds me of the 1964 Philadelphia Phillies.

This was a slam dunk victory and they missed the shot. This is typical of the Liberal air of arrogance and superiority. They LOST the only state to go for McGovern for crissakes.

I have to confess a near child like glee as watching the blame game is going to be a real pizzer

Its a slam dunk shot across the DNC bow Gar. If he would have lost by 5% IT STILL WOULD HAVE BEEN A SLAM DUNK.
Now we can sit by and watch the deocrats and progressives go opposite directions at light speed.
HC fence riding dems have an excuse to cave now.

They pull some crap in the Senate now would be icing on the cake for DNC. Thank one Barack NBC Obama for the destruction of the DNC.
Took Bush 8 years...Obama one year to the day.

And when republicans regain power and screw the pooch their seats will be vulnerable as well. Do you see a cycle here?

We need to get rid of the electoral college and create a true multi party system.

That could very well happen but I can only hope it would be different.

We need to get rid of the electoral college and create a true multi party system.

I think what we have now is fine but I would like to see something done with district gerrymandering and possibly term limits.

Different? What time in history could possibly give you hope that the future cold be any different? The last time the GOP was in control was a cluster screw just like it is now with the DNC in control.

I'm sorry but if you think the political system we have in place now is 'fine' then we have vastly different standards of what we feel government should be like. Getting a true multi party system in place would fix so many of the problems we have. The fact that we as voters would actually get a true choice of people to represent us is just the tip of the ice berg.

Having lived in flyover states for most of my life, getting rid of the electoral college would essentially leave all of the electoral power to a small handful of states.

I'd much rather see the 17th Amendment repealed. The original intent of the Senate was to represent their State's government, and not necessarily the people.

Considering the leanings of the State, it's as much of a slam dunk as it was for Obama to take Indiana, Ohio and Florida in the 2008 election.

I am not sure how that would work. Can you give me an example of some country that has this system?

I have heard this argument and I do not get it. Wouldn't the importance of the fly overs be more and not less? If we get rid of the winner take all, then it becomes more of an issue that every vote counts. Your vote in a small state becomes as important as mine in a large state. Also, I live in a republican state. The way it works now my vote means nothing. Whether I vote or not here in TX, it does not matter. Seems like if we abandon the electoral college the dems would be more interested in coming to TX to court my vote. With out the electoral college, all votes count so smaller states are just as important.

On the other hand, if we get rid of the electoral college, nothing changes since the parties go where they get the most bang for their buck in terms of population. Which means they would go to the same places they go now.

Either way, I think the smaller states will get a bigger say.
