an excerpt from this weeks FAQs regarding the use of paper cups vs. plastic cups (for environmental considerations, of course):

"Kevin Jackson, managing director, Consumer & Partnership Marketing, reports that paper cups are more expensive and they do not make for a pleasant presentation."

since when have the westie inflight service decision makers ever been concerned about a pleasant glassware presentation? we use plastic in f/c, afterall. 🙄

Oh my god, nothing is classier than the plastic party cups we have.

There is NOTHING pleasant about any of the aethetics of the cactus era. Drab, dated, amateur looking flat colors that are not flattering to the surfaces they are on. And presentation? From an airline that wants it's flight attendants to put a shared dirty bucket of ice on top of a beverage cart, and rips down galleys to give a close up view of food preperation, with firefighting equiptment prominently displayed? And dresses their cabin crews in t-shirts and gym warm-ups?

Seriously, what kind of trailer park are these people from?

This one is worth a reprint too:

Q. I would like to address the practice of passengers using smokeless tobacco products on flights. To sit next to someone constantly spitting into a plastic bottle for a couple of hours is really disgusting especially as it begins to swirl around in the container. Just try to enjoy a snack while this is taking place! I know it's not an airline regulation, but perhaps tobacco products could be disallowed entirely as is smoking.

A. You are correct in that there is no regulation governing this activity. Bob Hemphill, Director, InFlight Training/Policies and Procedures, tells us that although potentially offensive to some passengers, the industry does not view this activity to be threatening to the safety of flight or aircraft equipment Additionally, it can be very difficult to detect; and attempting to enforce such a policy that is not industry standard could result in confrontational behavior which we are making every effort to reduce. It is always advisable to remind our customers that our InFlight professionals will make every effort to reseat them if they request to be reseated. This solution works well in most situations and happens multiples times per day for reasons such as loud talking, personal entertainment choices, etc. As you know, our company truly wants to do everything possible to provide a great experience for our customers.

Oh my, THE Kevin Jackson who was the head honcho in charge of our Beeeautiful new uniforms? Get out the glasses, its "juice" time!!!

P.S. What a joke ! It is all a JOKE !

Hey, how is that committee working on "making things better" going? *crickets*

They get the ideas from flight attendants but have to sent them back to Tempe. Someone spends long evenings burning the midnight oil using an abacus to figure costs. Things take time since most in Tempe have to devote time to school as well as running an airline. When any attempt is made to upgrade in their eyes we are to p!ss all over ourselves in excitement while in reality it's still garbage. I just tried the new BOB meals...my goodness the turkey tastes like wild pheasant I shot out in the woods. A very strong wild game taste that could gag a maggot. This was not on one flight but two.

We're serving up some foul fowl today! :disguise:

Please what a smoke and mirrors joke that entire Focus Group is. What a waste of money paying all those people to go to those meetings. They have bene meeting since the summer, has anything changed?

Just wait and SEE all the changes we have in store for the passenger. Enjoy your "American Experience".

sky high states: C'mon. It's a------> SANDWICH. Bread is fresh and moist. Turkey is fine. The bag of chips is rather small though. Half this country eats Fast Food anyway, yet everyone becomes a critic when it comes to "airline food". The BOB's have improved somewhat! More, importantly, they have changed, finally.

only stating opinions

Boy... I feel better now after reading all of the posts. From the tile of this thread I thought someone wanted to start the draft again.

While I'm one that enjoys a sandwich and can eat as much junk food as anyone else (because I can) that turkey tastes like wild pheasant. I have NEVER bought turkey at a deli nor have I carved it off a bird that tastes like that. Not only I but my friend nearly gagged before dumping it in the trash. Oh and we paid for them before we ate them. Aaaaaaaahahahahahaha  I'm all for improvement but the new food is NOT worth the price. I'd prefer NOT selling anything but it is what it is......gobble, gobble, gobble. I bet the birds they use for that food had 4 feet and 2 beaks. 😉
