I know there is alot of 9/11 fatique, but it is strange that this is the first year the anniversary has had no thread here or on the two airlines involved. (at least until this moment)

Regardless, may those lost rest in peace. May those that survived that horrific day, as well as the families of those that lost loved ones, continue to heal.

And may all of us in this industry keep alerted to our surroundings and not be complacent.

God bless all our families and friends who have lost loved ones on 9-11-01. They are true heros in our war against terrorism.

PR

And let's also remember that management cannot use9/11 as an excuse for their incompetent ways.

I remember, I knew someone on one of those flights. It is shameful how people have used this day for their own purpose. Airlines exec's blaming all their mismanagement and short sightedness on 9/11. This horrible money consuming entity called the TSA fouling everything up. The goverment taking away your personal freedoms. You have to wonder if the terrorists won more than just knocking down those towers.

The right to privacy, or is it ok for the goverment to evesdrop on your conversations?

The right to protest, the presumption of innocense until proven guilty.

Review the wiretap law. The govt. can evesdrop on INTERNATIONAL calls. In fact, this proved useful just last week when the terrorist plot was foiled in Germany. According to the feds and German counterparts, the arrests were made possible in part by being able to tap those calls.

I've seen lots of protests in the last 6 years conducted legally (i.e. peacefully). As with any other time in history, when people were arrested it was because things got out of hand. Nothing new there.

Last I checked, we still have a court process that does presume innocence. Just go down to your municipal, county or federal courthouse on any given day and you'll see this play out in front of you. Or, are you one of those people who think the liberal media is the judge and jury now?

I'm not talking about international phone calls, I'm talking about illegal goverment sureillance on its own citizens. I'm talking about if your skin is brown or you happen to belong to the wrong religion the goverment can detain you without a trial or access to counsel. The goverment can also restrict your access to peaceful protest.

Like I said, the terrorist won more than just knocking down those buildings.

Has the govt. been listening to domestic calls? Maybe. Probably. But who cares. If your phone is tapped for a domestic call, it's irrelevant since that can't be used against you (shy of a court order authorizing it). This is not new since 9/11, though.

Throwing the race/religion card is typical. Prejudices have been part of our world for many, many years.

Protests have always been able to be restricted for any number of reasons.

You haven't adequately answered what freedoms you actually LACK since 9/11/01.

Let's bring it back to topic, please or I hope it is closed. Geez, guys!

As we approach the somber anniversary of September 11, 2001, another event for our hometown airline occured when one of our 737's crashed into a hillside just 5-6 miles from PIT, killing everyone aboard.

While on a visit home recently, I noticed that the "memorial" on Route 60 that had been tended beautifully for years appears to have gone to seed. Does anyone know who created the garden and who tended to it for all of these years?

It was a sad day for our USAir family and not one forgotten.

Is there not any subject which can be posted on these boards without starting some kind of argument? I mean really....

This thread was meant to be a rememberance, not a platform for political discussions.

I remember all the victims of this savage attack in my prayers, including two friends with whom I served as a firefighter for many years. One was lost as a worker, and the other as a rescue officer that day.

I won't get into how I feel about those who are responsible for this, as this is not the place.....

Peace be with all those who left us that day--with the exception of the perpetrators.
