Afghanistan had the same link to 9/11 that Kadaffi had to PA 103. Afghanistan supported and later harbored the man directly linked to the attacks. I still do not believe that a 7 yr was was justified but I think your distinction is moot. If Kadaffi was responsible for PA 103 and Reagan went after him then why didn't he get him? Fair question. If you'll note that until the recent internal strife he had not heard much from Khadaffi Duck as he softened his stance toward the West. It was widely rumored that the bombing of his compound killed a child of his. Now if you know anyone who has lost a child it changes them. The Libyan Leader had surely softened, but what is not known is why? I think the reason RR never went back for a 2nd bite at the apple is because the goal wasn't so much to actually "get" Khadaffi as it was to let him know we could and would if we felt we needed to. To me it was a very judicious use of our military. Getting maximum bang for the buck politically and financially. He did just enough to prove/make his point and kept a rogue nation under control for nearly 20 years after he left office.

Compare this to actions of Dumber and Dumber. Bad enough Bush involves us in wars and nation building, then the current dumbass who promised to get us out of the 2 wars and instead starts two more. More and more with each passing day I become convinced they really are two peas in a pod. Like I said Dumb & Dumber.

Do you get that the use of force as Reagan applied it was within the confines of the COTUS? To be one day of air strikes does not a war make. Therein is the difference. Also the end was clearly defined as in ONE DAY!!!!

When you commit to anything longer than 30 days there should be a Declaration of War or at the very minimum a joint resolution of Congree authorizing Military Force.

Here's the bottom line folks. The Empty Suit PROMISED to get the USA out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Are we out? Nope, plue we now have to more wars. What a Fraud and you're arguing about a one day airstrike. that served notice and kept Libya at bay.

WASHINGTON — A White House photographer was allowed to take and widely distribute a photo from the ceremony Tuesday for the return of the remains of 30 American troops killed in a weekend helicopter crash in Afghanistan — despite the Pentagon's claim that any public depiction of the scene would violate the wishes of bereaved families.

News media coverage of the ceremony had been banned by the Pentagon over the objections of several news organizations.

No where is there an mention of lenght of time. And bt the way the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution gave LBJ the authority to commit troops to SE Asia. Since Congressional approval seems to be so important to you I guess you would have reported for duty if your draft number came up.
