That has been a rumor for over a year now.

But it was going to be a west base. Since we are running seperate ops and they keep taking flying from PHX and shifting it. We are below block hours. TA 10 grievance. The company has to find more flying for the west.

Anyone that thinks MCO would/could/should be a base should be drug tested on the spot. If they pass, they should be fired for being too stupid to be responsible for the lives of others.

Maybe not. With the asset swap with DL, US said that it would put aircraft with F on some of the routes. US never said that it would be with mainline aircraft. It would also bring US in line with DL/NW and UA who also have F in their larger "RJ" aircraft.

I don't feel that this is a silly rumor this is quite possible and a logical move by usairways.

How is it logical? There are not enough flights from MCO to justify a crew base.

AGREED. The company is cutting and slashing right now. Were still in a Recession. I dont see them increasing flights at Orlando anytime in the near future to justify a crew base unless they plan on flying to Japan,China and Brazil out of MCO. Hahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahhaha. Yeah Right Dude.

As far back as the late 1970s, the rumors swirled around (original) Piedmont that the company was doing so well in Florida, that we were about to announce a TPA crew base. They persisted for years, resurfacing in earnest now and then. Finally, Piedmont did open a TPA crew base, but by that time the Piedmont name was found painted near the doors of a Dash-8 fleet.

So...the rumor was correct. Piedmont did indeed open a TPA crew base. Just not what we (original) Piedmont people expected.
