BUILDING A BETTER AIRLINE: Improving Airport Staffing

Q. The Res Migration and ice storms seemed to hit Charlotte particularly hard -- are the agents there getting any relief?

A. Yes. Senior VP of Customer Service Anthony Mulé says nine passenger service agents graduated from class last week and another 40 new hires started class Monday as a result of staffing requests from CLT management. Agents from other cities -- Atlanta, Omaha and Pittsburgh -- are also working temporary duty at Charlotte. Systemwide, the company is doing a staffing audit at all stations, with a focus on hub, large station and feeder airports, to be sure that employment levels are properly set for the high volume summer period. Stay tuned.

This FAQ and many more will be available in tomorrow’s issue of AboutUS. Previous FAQs are available on awaCompass and theHub.

Station managers get bonuses based on getting the flights out on-time while being "under staffed". So don't be surprised if your manager says he has all the help he needs when they come calling. You bust your ass and the manager gets paid extra, while the passenger gets "no service". Great system.

HEY MULE !!!!!! LISTEN UP KERBY,
WHAT ABOUT STAFFING FOR YOUR STEP CHILDREN IN PHILADELPHIA. "ME TOO" IS IN ORDER HERE. CHARLOTTE IS NOT AN ORIGINATING DUMP "HELL" CITY LIKE PHILLY. SO NOW, SHOULD WE BUS OUR PASSENGERS AND BAGS TO CHARLOTTE? YOU CALL THE SHOTS, FOR NOW ! LET US REMIND YOU THAT YOU HAVE JUST DECREASED THE MORALE IN PHILLY A LEVEL DOWN. THAT DEAR SIRS IS A MAJOR ERROR.
