State proposes work requirement for food stamps

SparrowHawk said:
Maybe us giving her food stamps and housing allowed her the time to correct the errors in her life and go on to raise spectacular children?
That is a maybe, women adding 18 years of debt to the United States AFTER they go on welfare is a for sure. You can "what if" something to death if you want to.

Do I think it is the place of government to reach out to the Tamika's of the world? NO, I do not.
Then why are we having this conversation?

SparrowHawk said:
I think about what I have paid in taxes to date and how much more good I could do if I spent that money with some charities and it makes me angry.
Then again, why are we having this conversation?

Suppose our "help" allows Tamika to use her parenting skills and start a small day care and eventually escapes the clutches of government assistance? What then?
Women that choose to have several children AFTER going on welfare are unlikely to "escape" government dependency. In fact they are almost ensuring they don't.

Not being able to close your legs is not a "parenting skill", it is a lack of good judgement. Do you think people want someone that routinely shows bad judgement to watch their kids? Do you know how ridiculous you sound?

I never accepted any of the stuff I was qualified for. WHY? Because I could see it was like crack cocaine with little of the downside. The government has been very successful at creating a permanent underclass that must vote the status quo in order to eat.
You mean Democrats are using welfare to "buy" votes and fund the socialist agenda?

Yeah I already knew that. Thanks.

And what do you call republicans that use taxpayer money to buy votes?

I call them Crony Capitalist one and all. Welcome to the one party oligarchy formerly known as the United States.

Who's votes do they buy? Give some examples.

You are a fool if you think Republicans don't do the same thing.  Take agricultural subsidies for example.  Most representatives of rural agricultural areas tend to be republican.  Now if republicans were so concerned about government spending why don't these representatives come out in favor of eliminating them?  Because they knew if they did that it would be a rather quick way to get voted out of office.  But we've already discussed this.

How about defense contracts.  There have been programs that the DOD has sought to end only to have republicans in congress add money to those programs.  Why, because those programs mean jobs and jobs mean votes.

BINGO! Hold your cards we have a bingo.

It's all neatly divvied up
:.
Republican Crony Capitalists get the Fram subsidies and DoD money.
Democrat Crony Capitalists get the social welfare and regulatory money
You & Every other American pay for the above. Not to worry, The government fives you free lube and soap on a rope better known as a income tax refund. What a bargain a gift of your money, how charming.

It's big Club and we aren't in it, It's the same club they use to beat you senseless so you'll stand still for this crap. They call it the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it.

So your argument is that rural farmers and city ran unions equal out at the poles....... Seriously? I will challenge that numbers game any day of the week.

How many of those DoD programs use UNION labor?

Please stop pretending republicans don't use tax payer money to buy votes.

I;m sure its done but here there were several ways to get over on state handouts. One was running out of UC and getting denied. You could do casual employment like painting your neighbors house, doing Uncle Stogies roof, whatever and document it and report it to the state as 'casual income'......there is an UC advocacy group that tutors people how to 'get over'...in fact some of these people do this continually....its legal and in the UC manual.....Dem Rendell was Gov, it was in the UC handbook, GOP Gov comes in, they remove it from the UC handbook. (still in the UC law, but you have to look)

How do I know of this?

My union had state UC geeks do several 'how to get over' sessions at the union hall....LOL

Another 'perk' was SNAP.......under our dear democratic friends, you could have two cars, two Harleys, two houses and 150 K in the bank and collect stamps......Gov Corbett come along and made it one car, one house, 5k in the bank....

So looks like Tommy Corbett isn't buying too many votes.

Prove they do.
Take a look at the defense and farm subsidies in the Federal Budget and then compare donations to Republicans who are elected. It's a pretty short straight line.

Are they as blatant & Obvious as the Democrats? NO! They are more subtle and discreet for the most part yet equally as guilty

So you are saying that supporting farm subsidies and defense contracts keeps the people voting in Republicans?

Are you serious?
