There've been over 300 cancellations at the 3 NY/NJ airports so far by all airlines with more cancellations throughout the day.
This isn't just a Philly or US Airways thing.
Worst storm in over 25 years according to The Weather Channel.

Flights Cancelled as N'orEaster Hits Metro Area
WNYC Newsroom

NEW YORK, NY April 15, 2007 —300 flights have been cancelled as a hard-blowing Nor'Easter bears down on the Northeast. The disruptions at the New York area's three major airports affect most carriers, and more cancellations are expected throughout the day.

A flood watch is in effect for the region, and forecasters expect strong winds and a storm surge between 3 and 5 feet. Governor Eliot Spitzer says that combination could cause as much flooding as a winter storm that wreaked havoc on Long island in 1992.

New Jersey officials have made preparations for heavy snow in the state's northwest corner and possible flooding elsewhere. The storm has been blamed for five deaths since it blew out of the Plains late in the week.

Express flights are cancelled (most of them) in Phl today, from what I am hearing. On my way to the airport now, will advise more details later. Hopefully, weather will clear for business travel tomorrow. North Jersey coast is starting to get slammed right now. Tides are going up 3 feet from the norm and winds kicking up tremendously.

Got that storm report from Sea Girt, New Jersey so it is south of Newark now. No high winds near Phl yet.

Fox weather just reported hundred of flights already cancelled and this storm is predicted to be be the worst storm in 14 years. Storm surge on Long Island between 3-5 feet, Red Cross and National Guard has shelters up and running, expecting non stop flooding starting in just a few hours. I have a feeling tommorrow we'll be doing what the West call "Mando". (Mandatory Overtime)

HUGE cancellations at LGA, ML, Shuttle, Express. US is probably running about 1/3 of it's scheduled flights at LGA as of 1800 local. Biggest problem seems to be wind sheer on final. Several crews reported a really bad ride on approach and final.

Regards

Just flew in from the West Coast. Arrived only 40 minutes late into PHL. Agent met the flight and said "all connections were ok except the following cities...." He had a stack of boarding passes for the people that misconnected; they were already rebooked. In the terminal, all seemed pretty calm.

Nice job, PHL.

I was off today (vacation!!!!!!!! yea!!!!), but was worried for all my coworkers. Everyone is so stressed out already and I was afraid a terrible day would push some to the limit. It looks like things went fairly well. A couple of DCA delays, 1 CLT poss misconx and the PHL flights were all looking good. We were really worried about our 455pm dept since there were over 50 intl conx to LGW and MAN and no seats showing across the pond until about Thurs at the earliest. Looks like it made it in about 818pm and the first conx was skd for 830pm. Looks like they held about 20 mins and LGW wasnt skd until 855pm so they dodged the bullet on that one.
Whatever happened today it looks like it went fairly smooth considering what was predicted. Either OCC did the canx thing right or the delays just never materialized as predicted. Either way, I'm hoping the day went well for everyone involved.

9pm Eastern and these are the delay programs that are still in affect:

EWR - AVG 125 MIN
JFK - AVG 375 MIN
LGA - AVG 227 MIN
PHL - AVG 130 MIN

I am sure these delays peaked higher during the heavier demand part of the day.

Total US cancellations 47 Mainline, 374 Express, far less then I would have predicted given the "storm of the century" predictions of the weather channel. Hopefully recovery for tomorrow will be quick and the airline will be back on its feet ASAP.

Flew in on US 1024 SJU-PHL this afternoon and only arrived 15 or so minutes late. Much better than 8 hours late like Saturday's 1024.

Not sure how busy US is at PHL during the 6-7pm time period on a Sunday but i counted about 6-8 US aircraft total at B and C.

Flew out of PHL this morning around 9AM on my way to PHX. Pretty bumpy but no issues, arrived PHX 8 minutes early.
