Tea Party Radicals

I don't know, I think it would be great to go a month without "paying" to live. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have an alternative readily available. That's the problem with these guys (and I'll lump the tea-baggers in this little box too). It's easy as hell to be against something. It's coming up with a replacement that adds net value that presents the challenge.

Agreed. I remembered seeing the TP's on line and in various interviews. Wen asked what they wanted they all said they wanted spending cuts. When asked what they to cut they had nothing. Of course they do not want to cut the stuff that affects them. Just the stuff that does not affect them. They they realize that those cuts won't make enough of a dent. They got nothing.

Very few folks are willing to make a personal sacrifice. They are very willing to make others make a sacrifice but very rarely their own. Such is life.

I'm for:

  1. Medicaid, food stamps, family support programs, and the children’s nutrition program are block-granted to the states.
  2. Congressional pay and perks are slashed, and the president’s salary is reduced to $39,336 a year, which Paul maintains is about equal to the median personal income of the American worker. The president currently earns $400,000.
  3. The federal workforce is reduced by 10 percent.
  4. Young workers are allowed to opt out of Social Security.
  5. The top corporate income tax rate is cut from 35 percent to 15 percent.
  6. All taxes on capital gains and dividends are eliminated, as well as the estate tax, and the Bush-era tax cuts are extended.
  7. Obamacare is repealed, along with the Dodd-Frank financial regulatory reform law.
  8. an audit of the Federal Reserve, and legislation to strengthen the dollar

What is wrong with people holding signs comparing Obama to Hitler?

Link

It really does not do your cause any good to have people holding sign up like that at your rallies. Unless of course your goal is to attract morons who failed high school history and who are easily led around by the nose.

Entirely fair.

I'd add

  • all armed services members and retirees become tax-exempt for state and federal income taxes on their military income or benefits, paid for by
  • means testing before paying any elected official a salary or pension

Obama says the rich have to pay their own way. Folks like Kerry, Clinton, Bernake, Geithner, Romney and Obama are already millionaires. Why should they need a salary for government service? Isn't the reward of being in power compensation enough?...

The post is from Ron Paul's Press Release prior to the debate. See folks Liberty IS popular.

Is Mr. Paul going to give up his congressional retirement?

Paul doesn't say anything about legalizing marijuana, cocaine, or heroin.

What does he think about those?

Is Mr. Paul going to give up his congressional retirement?

He has stated that as his intention. He returns about half his salary now. So no real reason to doubt him.

Oddly enough I think one of his impediments to getting elected is no one can believe that there is a guy running that actually makes his views part of his life. He might be a little to much for some on the issues. But by God when it comes to being honest and having integrity he has more of both than the entire field of candidates do. This frankly confuses the hell out of the voters.

To where/who does he return it to?

The US Treasury. This was on an MSM piece they did on Dr Paul. He's apparently done this for the entire time he's been in Congress.

He has also stated that as POTUS he would take a salary of just under 40K which the median income in the US.
