Teamsters get new TA for Ramp

The IAM just came back with $25/hr more for the FA's at CAL from their last TA the FA's turned down a few months ago. If I was a ramper, I would not hesitate to go with the IAM. The ibt is the worst of the worst. They couldn't negotiate their way out of a wet paper bag.

What is the trade off?

How many stations are at risk of being outsourced in exchange for pay increases?

No, the IAM just came back with 2.5% more for the FAs, retroactive to 1/1/10. Including the addtional 2.5% in September, 2011, the total raise is about $2.50/hr, not $25/hr. The $75/hr you're looking at is the 150% payrate for short coverage days. Here's the complete link with both pages (your link contained only the first page):

And the poster put the IAM-FA/CO Contract up, not the ramp and you commented on it.

So I guess you need to read a post before you reply to it.

Thanks for playing. No do-overs.

Pick up your complimentary copy of The Gong Show, Season One, on the way out.

And that has what to do with the topic?

At least add something that is relevant.

Since you brought it up
The union negotiators sure are under pressure to bring an industry-leading contract

IBT IAM AFA
Who is it going to be

I know this is about the Ramp workers. I read the IBT paper about how they are the largest in the airline industry.
DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They lied and cheated their way to represent the UA mechanics. They are useless and haven't got a clue how to
negotiate. They will throw you in front of a moving truck if it will fulfill thier needs. They will stab you in the back.
All I am saying is BEWARE !!!!!!!!!! Go with the IAM or any other union. Just stay away from the IBT!!!!!!!!

Just to add some emphasis to gatemechs post:

The teamsters supposed power in the aviation industry is a lie, ask UPS who are into year 4 without a contract, or the Horizon Pilots who only just ratified a new contract after 4 years, or the Horizon Mechanics who lost a third of their members when the ibt couldn't stop Horizon from outsourcing ALL heavy maintenance.

The teamsters do have a formidable organizing dept, but maybe that's necessary considering they are by far the most DECERTIFIED UNION.

Will and Heart? Hardly! the ibt lied their way onto the UAL property during the Mechanics campaign.

The teamsters claim of saving 4,500 mechanics jobs is an outright LIE! The Mechanics contract contains protective language against the sale of the base, language that the IAM negotiated! Never mind that while the company may have been shopping the idea around, they had no "proposed sale", the next time some teamster fool starts trying to float this lie ask him/her ""...okay, who was the buyer?"" then watch the excuses start flying.

BTW they also claim they brought back mechanic jobs, this is a perfect example of ibt deception. Yea, recently they returned about 250 mechanics for the IPTE B777 project, but they fail to tell you how in the ibts first year on the UAL property, nearly 1000 mechanics lost their jobs and a number of line stations were closed for maintenance.

These are just a few of the many examples of teamster failures already at UAL, don't let yourselves become the next teamster failure.

QX CBA is a joke. It's also really sad to see the PDX base shrivel down to a shell of what it once was.

Not to get too far off topic here, but what line stations does UAL have left for MTX?

They also claim no point system for attendance, That is a joke also. CAL mechanics are under a 7 point system for discipline. 1/2 a point for late attendance, 1 point for sick day and 3 points for no call no show. You start with 7, hit 0 and you are on the street. What ever the ibt tell you, think the exact opposite, or do research before even entertaining the thought.
