Just heard from a Reliable source that Phone Calls where made to a long list of NW foks advising them that their careers had just come to en END

They where told NOT to speak to anyone about this. A week after the calls where made a LIST was sent out with all the names of the employees that where being laid off due to the "MERGER"....

Some say that they where promised futures in the NEW DL,,, but not so.............

Just curious where these folks would rank on the pecking order. It's not unusual for some of those at/near the top to be sent packing - you don't need two VP's of operations, two CEO's, two CFO's, etc. - although it's normal for those in such strata to "leave for personal reasons" rather than be let go.

I assume that to be "rumor worthy" those affected would be well below those levels.

Jim

Or..................maybe these people were notified , as to their future, so they can take advantage of the voluntary leave program that is going on as we speak, instead of just giving them walking papers ! Not sure how things were at NW, but this has been known to happen at Delta !

From what I was told, it ranges from Station Managers to Coustmer Service Managers....

Thanks REPUS - seems to be somewhat low in the pecking order (though still above the rank/file). Obviously there's no need to have 2 station managers at common DL/NW stations, and likewise for CS managers. It would be nice if those at the manager levels at least had the chance to transfer, downbid, whatever.

Thats one thing people forfeited when moving up the ladder at DL, roll-back rights (downbid) . Price of success I guess.

No turning back , moving from rank/file to management.

There is if you hold union seniority in a classification...

Of course, you would not understand that concept, being as that you are non-union.

I would tend to agree with you, but we're talking NWA people losing their jobs...so I'll just say oh well.

All managers across the system have known about this for sometime. Not new news. They were told that they'd either:

A. Be done "right away" (my term)

B. Stay through their station's transition, then be gone

C. Stay right on through.

Once the regional managers were in place, then the station mangers were. As BB pointed out, in places where there was overlap, someone had to go...

I'm just a ramp lead and I knew about this a few months ago.

Are you one of the people affected, REPUS?

Not true, I remember maintenance Foreman going back to lead and even all the way back to mechanic. This happened in the first round of layoffs and even before that in a station transfer.

Its funny because the Base Manager in BOS for DL either just stepped down or is stepping down and is starting an anti-union campaign.

Does it really take Einstein to see what the company is really doing here?

If it's the same foreman I'm thinking of, he was busted back to mechanic because of a particular incident involving the shop he was foreman over, nothing to do with RIF !

There are a few people that I know who were foremen ,but are now leads or AMTs.
Due to the downsizing/rightsizing.

What management will survive and where has been discussed many times on here. I suggest you do a search.

Considering every manager on the system knew about this, how could your friends not have? If they're vendors, they should have at least anticipated something.
