I'm sorry, I missed that...I was watching an old lady bleed to death in the middle of the road after getting hit by a car...i'm surprised she held on as long as she did...sort of like USAirways

Guys, I'm sorry to break the bad news to everyone, but this entire country is going to hell in a handbasket and people across the entire country are losing their jobs, in mass numbers. The good news, our economy is cyclical, and the jobs will come back. All we can do is hope we don't lose our houses and everything we own in the process...

Just in case you're wondering, this is the email I just got from Div Miles...

Changing the way we do business
It's no secret that the airline business is facing difficulties of unprecedented proportions; and 'unfortunately
US Airways is no exception. Surviving high oil prices is going to require some substantial changes to the way the industry is run. Today, we announced a series of changes designed to prepare our airline for these new ways of doing business.

Specifically, we announced changes to domestic capacity, the Dividend Miles program and our overall business model. We're transforming our business by initiating a 'pay-for-what-you-use' model for items like baggage and beverages. We're also making changes to the Dividend Miles program that you should know about.
Among the changes we announced today, we will:

Assess a $25, $35 or $50 award processing fee (depending on where you travel) for award tickets booked on or after August 6, 2008.
Introduce a first checked bag fee of $15 for tickets booked on or after July 9, 2008. As a Preferred member, you and anyone traveling on your reservation will be exempt from the baggage fee.
End Preferred bonus miles for travel booked on or after August 6, 2008.
Read about all the changes we're making.

Despite changing times and our move to a 'pay-for-what-you-use' model, we'll continue to deliver on items you value most - exemptions from fees (Choice Seats and many baggage fees), complimentary First Class upgrades and the best upgrade window in the industry. Also, don't forget you can continue to earn miles with over 150 Mileage Partners and Preferred-qualifying miles with our US Airways Credit Cards. You earn up to 25,000 miles when you sign up for each card plus you earn miles for your everyday purchases.

We appreciate your continued loyalty.

Sincerely,

Fernand Fernandez

Gee, I forgot another change they could make....

PR NEWSWIRE. June15,2008 Sandcastle, AZ

US Airways (NYSE-LCC) is implementing one additional value-added change to it's world class service effective July 1, 2008. Starting on July 1, 2008 US Airways will institute a fee of $2.00 for the reclamation of any items brought aboard any of it's aircraft that is not sold to the customer by US Airways. This charge is designed to recoup monies it costs to equip, maintain and carry onboard it's cutting edge systems for reclaiming items that the passenger may bring onboard and choose not to take as they exit the plane. Our highly trained reclamation personnel will utilize this equipment and provide you, our customer, with a smile and the respect you deserve when you fly US Airways.

What's next, Condom Machines for the customers? The customer has to buy them although they are the on the receiving end.

I got asked on another thread once about a "second right answer". If you still can't see it, this thread perfectly illustrates it.

It's greed, folks.

The management at US Airways didn't plan for the worst case scenario with fuel that is occuring right now, and since they just gotta get their cash, they are punishing the flying public with all of these charges just to make sure houses and cars are paid for before the beast goes belly-up.

It's my belief that anyone who thinks these guys are actively trying their best to save the airline from a bankruptcy need to remove the rose-colored glasses they're wearing and sell them hencewith for $2.00 along with a soft drink.

Snip, snip, snip! Everytime people and routes and planes get cut, another part of the body that is US Airways starts to bleed. Now LAS is getting treated to PIT-style alterations. How soon before they're working 68 flights a day out of that station?

When your product is so bad that you have to add surcharges to everything to make it profitable, you need to consider that your plan to sell your product is not working. I don't think anyone will see improvements in the product anytime soon, so unless fuel takes a nosedive and management wakes up, I suggest that employees start looking in the want ads for something new to do.

I have bumped into a few people I used to work with at PSA, and most of them seem to be doing okay. Many employees went to work in PHL, and whereas I can't fault them for seeking out work, I don't see how the sacrifice of being away from home and helping bail a sinking ship benefits them in the long run. But that's their choice, and at least they are working. For how long, I can't say.

Well, time to get ready for work.
