The Changes to Come

Folks...

If the only place they can find to get more revenue is to start charging for 25 cent soda, then we are in deep kimchi. I think the customer deserves at the least a free beverage. This is so wrong.

I was reading where the 20 dollar increase in fares didn't stick...Well I don't think that another pay cut to subsidize mass transit is going to stick either.

Look, you will either pay more to get to where you are going faster or take your affordable choice of transportation.

I think everyone should be able to afford a Rolls Royce, but they a very expensive...As is flying. I sorry but not everyone can have a golden egg.

I say reduce capacity. Just think less people, less planes, less bags. Everyone gets there on time, with their bags and just maybe
they can get a free Coke, too

Looks as if labor may indeed be the death of US Airways?

How is this labor's fault? I'm the lowest paid major airline pilot in the nation. At the end of the day the labor issues are managements fault. They decided to handle things they way they did.

I have mixed feeling about the new pricing structures. They do seem to be nickle and dime, but it let's you pay for what you want. Why should a guy that never checks a bag pay a higher fare for the family going on a cruise with the whole house in their bags? What worries me are the fees that stick it to our best customers without giving them any value, like the Sat. night stay requirement. The people that get hurt by that are our best customers, and have been paying our big bills for years. We need to find fees for the causual once a year traveler, and perks for the ones that stick with us and bring in the big bucks.

Aggressive measures for US Airways - Flight cuts, new passenger fees expected soon; layoffs possible

I have said this before and will again that I'm perfectly fine with a fee for beverages and bags. What I DO believe though is there should be a fare cutoff point where if you pay over a certain price your drink is included along with the bag fee waved. That would keep our higher fare traveler and FF's from the nickel and dime experience. Oh my two cousins just bought tickets from PA to Tampa for 198.00 on US. You CANNOT DRIVE for that. It's crazy. I don't fault US on their own for this because until ALL airlines decide to NOT go back on fare increases this will happen.

How is this labor's fault you ask? Well, I didn't say it was anyones fault. . . did you read the article? I was basing my statement soley on the article and I quote:
"The biggest reason: The airline is restricted on how much it can cut back flying under labor agreements made after the US Airways/America West merger.

They dictate a minimum fleet size and flight hours for pilots and flight attendants." End quote. . .

Other airlines are cutting back where USAirways cannot due to old labor agreements. It is WAY beyond who's fault it is. That is besides the point. . . the question is what can be done NOW.
Some are trying to rearrange the furniture while the buildings on fire! 😛h34r:

Last year that $198 fare was $98 RT. Still its a bargain. What does AMTRAK charge for PHL-FLA fares? And you can not even check baggage in on AMTRAK in the Northeast.

I have no desire to sell ANYTHING myself. I think we should all step away from the keyboard and stop hitting the refresh button waiting for new news. Go have lunch, take a dip in the pool and come back later for the "Big Announcement".
