Is reporting that Southwest Airlines may move into the Charlotte hub of USAIRWAYS in the near future. This cannot be good news. Savy
The Observer is simply recycling the PIT newspapers "story".

With Southwest Airlines announcing last week that it will start flights to US Airways-dominated Pittsburgh, might Charlotte be next for the discount airline?
At least one analyst thinks so.
Mike Boyd of the Boyd Group, in a research note out this week, says Southwest seems to be counting on US Airways' demise.
He wrote: "Next likely (Southwest) target: Charlotte. The number two financial center in the nation, with strong business ties to key (Southwest)-served destinations. Again, not a traffic replacement for US Airways, but enough to make a good living."
Southwest CEO Gary Kelly said last week that Charlotte remains under consideration. Charlotte airport director Jerry Orr said he believes there are still "six or eight forks in the road" before Southwest would land here. -- TONY MECIA

Southwest is either overextending itself drastically and in for a terrible beating if US AIRWAYS pulls out of this or banking on more US AIRWAYS poor management.
Although top industry analyst have already confirmed a bleak US AIRWAYS predicament with such words as "Stick a fork in it", if by some freak of business that U does survive, a reversal of fortune would no doubt cause SW dreadful consequences.
I wouldn't bet against SW who is moving aggresively and with good reason, but if they are wrong then they could end up dead on arrival.
