This "could" turn into a hilarious thread, if everyone is completely honest, but ensuring At ALL Times, to "CYA" !!

SO, the official question goes like this;

"What (IYO) is THE funniest/most outrageous incident, that you ever saw/heard about, that happened in ANY AA station, that you were employeed in" ??

(The AUTHOR reserves the right, to NOT have to post first) !!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, REMEMBER....."CYA" !!

Funniest...I will have to think a whle about that.

Most Outrageous...is a tie

Management and the Bonuses

Pilots 2anting a 50% Raise
and The old Pilot request to have them and thier Family Boarded as non revs before any other employee

Let's see....a LGA-ORD trip being closed out in DECS but arrivng in ORD with Zero bags...A German Sheppard arriving into LGA on a 75 and not being removed from the aircraft and going back to FLL a few years ago.The list goes on and on and on.

Just yesterday we had 362 arrive from ORD and sit for over an hour because we're so short handed, there were at least three other arrivals last night that fell through the cracks and had bag times over an hour. We've gone from five clerks per gate to three if we're lucky. We're so short we can't even spare one guy to clean the plane most days.We were gate manned, now we're moved from gate to gate to gate and routinely having crews walk off at six hours because there is no lunch relief and the troll sitting on the control desk doesn't give a rats ass about who she is piping.

We have gates we don't staff (D2,D4,C5) but yet every day all three of those gates operate a full schedule(6+ Turns). Why is the company so dead set against improving the operation by staffing it properly?

I asked one of the CSM's last night how he was going to explain all these manpower shortage delays he took (There were a hell of a lot of those)
and he told me "We aren't allowed to say that" I asked why he was going to lie and he said that they "Weren't allowed to code things accurately" because it "Made the numbers look bad" and "His boss would be pissed".

I think it's sad that the company will move swiftly and decisively to "Deal with me" should I call in sick, but when it comes to real world operational matters they are incapable of making any kind of decision that make sense or has a positive impact on the product.

We get "Focus Groups" and "Customer Experience Leadership" circle jerks, but yet amazingly enough our SAM score has Fallen since the inception of the alphabet soup groups focused on the customer! We're Number Eleven!! That's right, Dead Last. And the sadly funny thing about that is that management doesn't understand why the numbers have cratered and what they should do to correct the problem.

I think it's outrageous that the management of this company has driven it straight into the ground and focused on peripheral issues while forgetting that this is a Customer Service driven business.

GREAT POST/SAD POST......................LGA Fleet Service !!

Though retired, I experienced EXACTLY, what "LGA" just outlined, while I was an active Employee in BOS + BDL.

It's my SINCERE hope, that ANY AA customer, future customer will take AA to task, over these true facts, that were posted.

And while I love to dump on all management, the fact is, that the lowest level supervisors are in a "no win" situation, and taught to NOT be TRUTHFUL, as far as reporting the facts, as they pertain to unexceptable customer service provided(or should I say..NOT provided) by AA.

It's HARD for me, because I have a "love/hate" relationship with AA.
One one hand, I'll defend them(AA) against ANY USA(legacy) Airline.."HANDS DOWN"....but when they "PULL the kind of SHET, that was described above by "LGA", I'll take them to task. each and every time !

I can't really feel very sorry for the supervisors regardless of level. These are people who thought they could make a difference but really haven't the power to do much else other than cover their own a$$ by whatever means available and feed their Napoleon/God complex. Not all are this way, but the majority I've seen are.

It's a mentality, to me anyway, on a par with the 'rent-a-pig' contingent many places use for 'security' (I use the term loosely).

Supervision could go away as was threatened years ago by Crandall - the rub is, however, the managers would have to start managing and there ain't no way in hell that will ever happen.

Well I've got two "incidents"...so I'll chip in with the second best one(saving the "winner" for a bit later")

This was a factual situation, confirmed by many old timers(before I got there)

BOS, it can be argued, was THE MOST militant AA station(though I'll ALWAYS give due deference to stations like JFK/LGA/EWR)
During a period in the very early 80's, BOS ramp, was always "nose to nose" with BOS Management.
Though I don't know the original complaint, it snowballed into NUMEROUS complaints that went unaddressed by the BOS GM.

Dilemma: .....How to get the attention of SOMEONE, ANYONE to solve grievances ????
Solution: ..... CONFLAGRATIONS !!!

By mysterious circumstances, Mens room trash cans, outside Dumpsters etc. were plagued by a rash of fires !
Perhaps it was the Improper disposal of cigarette butts, or maybe Leprechauns(BOS had a Large number of Irish FSC's)

Bottom line;

The Fire Chief of the MASS. Port Auth. went STRAIGHT to the BOS/GM and told him point blank that "HE, and His SUPERIORS had a moral problem, and IF "THEY" did'nt fix it, AA would be BARRED from operating in BOS" !!

PRESTO,....Moral Improved significantly, and the "LEPRECHAUNS" went elsewhere. 🙄 🙄

From some of the stories I've heard over the years about them, I'm certain the leprechauns had something to do with the problems.

It has yet to happen. It will be when all 3 unions on property (APFA, APA and TWU) all go on strike at the same time! Shutting this piece of an airline down for hours, days or weeks. Now that will be the funniest moment in AA history!

I win! I win! I win! I've got two incidents that happened last August regarding passenger behavior.

#1: This happened to a friend of mine who is one of the sweetest gate agents in the entire system...One Sunday morning in August, 7 D3s presented themselves at the gate in STL, all listed for First Class, and no, they can not be split up. (Yeah, you know that is going to happen on a weekend in August. ) One member of the party--a young woman in her late teens-early 20's--is dressed in hiphugger, cut-off denims and flip-flops. The agent said to her, "Dear, your not really dressed appropriately to get on the airplane, much less in First Class. Do you have something in your carry-on that you could change into?"

A Revenue Standby standing behind them in line wearing slacks and a shirtwaist tunic (looks like a dress shirt, but is knee-length) takes off the tunic and hands it to the D3 and says "Here, dear. You can wear this as a dress on the plane."

The Revenue Standby is now standing at the podium wearing slacks and a bra! I asked the agent, "What did you do?" She replied that all she could think of was to say, "Well, ma'am. Now you are not dressed appropriately to get on the airplane."

#2 (The day I heard about #1 I was commuting back to DFW. I ran into an agent that I know and was telling her about it. A gate supervisor overheard and said, "That's nothing. Did you hear what happened over at Terminal C last week?"

Seems they were about to close a flight when this woman comes running up to the podium and says, "Hold this flight. I have to go to the restroom." The agent said to her, "Ma'am, if you want to go on this flight, you need to board the aircraft. We are about to close the door." The woman then squatted down and peed in the floor right in front of the podium! (Yes, they had her arrested. No, I don't know if she was drunk or crazy.)

Just when you think passenger behavior can not get any more bizarre. It gets more bizarre.

....then there was the time in BOS in the airfreight area (late 70's) when a facilities maintenance worker got he shock of his life when he reluctantly approached a Human remains shipment and a nearby talking bird greeted him...

...then there was this FSC in DFW that was teasing some humongus german shepherd guard dogs that were strapped to a pallette fresh from Lufthansa. He was bound in from all sides and tangled in the straps when a funny fellow worker grabbed his leg from behind and made the appropriate attack dog sounds - oh the humanity....

Wishing something like that on this airline and its hard working employees shows me exactly the type of low class individual you are. I hope you never have something like that wished upon you and your career.

Merry Christmas

Called a reserver out for a seq yesterday and I was told that according to "her spread sheet" she was not the next to go. Umm, according to mine you are because the other two are gone already. I am guessing she had one of those 'wacky MS spread sheets" and must have down loaded a virus.

Management has told us that they have a plan for this year and that we will be fine  Like we have not heard that story before. Last year a few of the big wigs got a call asking them WTF was going on. Too funny for words.

Obviously a fool with little understanding of the issue. Don't feel bad, you have enough company to start another employee support group.

Like your Direct Deposit? Thank a pilot, they asked for it the same way as the non-rev issue.
